SoftSheen · 17/11/2021 21:41

Of those, I like Magnus or Henry for a boy (definitely not Donnie!), and Harriet, Astrid or Emma for a girl.

SleighBells21 · 17/11/2021 21:43

Rowan (I like for both boy or girl)
Henry
Finn I would change to Flynn

Polly
Rosie
Emma

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/11/2021 21:48

OK -

Rufus - great, getting popular
George - nice but way overused
Magnus - fine, I just don't like it
Finn - way overused
Rowan - lovely but way overused
Henry - nice but way overused
Donald (Donnie) - not until Mr T is dead and decomposed..

Astrid - lovely
Polly - sweet. Maybe a bit too sweet - better as a short for eg Marianne?
Rosie - way too many of them. And too twee for a full name.
Josie - OK but only as a diminutive for Josephine etc
Bryony - it's OK, not overused, but it sounds like Brian..
Harriet - it's OK, popular
Celia - lovely, not overused
Adele - bit barmaid - Adela much nicer, or even Adeline
Callinda (Callie) - it sounds made up. Callie can be short for Caroline -
Cassandra (Cassie) - OK
Juno - lovely, had a real moment couple of years ago
Leah - blurs with all the Lola/Lara/Lyra/Lena/Lilas/so no, also sounds like Leanne, which is grim
Georgina (Gina) - Georgina is nice, Gina is very nothingy. Georgie? Georgia quite overused a few years ago though
Maria - underused classic
Emma - classic
Zoe - OK
Tamara - 70s vibe, but nice
Tamsin - dated, and makes me think of tampons
Matilda (Mattie) - lovely but way overused

Luckingfovely · 17/11/2021 21:49

Harriet - lovely
Celia - lovely
Adele - nope, the singer only
Callinda (Callie) - lovely
Cassandra (Cassie) - lovely
Juno - lovely
Leah - undecided
Georgina (Gina) - love the full name, not the nn
Maria - are you Catholic?
Emma - classic and lovely but dull
Zoe - undecided
Tamara - ghastly
Tamsin - ghastly
Matilda (Mattie) - overused now

Hope that is of some help Grin

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 17/11/2021 21:49

StellaOlivetti · 17/11/2021 21:53

I like all your boys names apart from Donald/Donnie, which make me think Duck/Osmond.

Of your girls names, I love Polly, Rosie and Josie, but would use Rosemary/Rosalind or Josephine for the last two on the birth certificate.

Fivebeanchilli · 17/11/2021 21:55

Rufus - gorgeous. One of my favourite names.
George - I'm not a fan. It's a personal dislike though and not a reasoned one! I think it just reminds me of Georgie porgie!
Magnus - it's ok
Finn - I like it but it's very popular
Rowan - I love this for a girl, not so keen for a boy
Henry - very nice but very popular
Donald (Donnie) - I like it

Astrid - not keen
Polly - I love this
Rosie - sorry but I find this a bit dull
Josie - I like Josephine but not keen on Josie on its own
Bryony - don't like
Harriet - love this
Celia - if this was Cecilia it would be my favourite but I'm not keen on Celia
Adele - no. Too linked to the singer now
Callinda (Callie) - love Callie but only if short for Calista or Camilla
Cassandra (Cassie) - love Cassie but only with Cassia as the full name
Juno - ok
Leah - not a fan
Georgina (Gina) - ok
Maria - not a fan
Emma - nice
Zoe - lovely
Tamara - ok
Tamsin - ok
Matilda (Mattie) - lovely.

Rufus is an easy winner for the boys.
I love Polly or Harriet for the girls but would prefer Cecilia, Calista or Camilla if they were options.

BrunoJenkins · 17/11/2021 22:01

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/11/2021 22:03

Rufus - quirky but handsome
George - classic but a bit dull and stodgy
Magnus - strong and elegant
Finn - trendy, not my taste
Rowan - romantic, nature vibes
Henry - lovely classic
Donald (Donnie) - elderly Scot, Duck or Trump

Astrid - Euro/Scandi cool
Polly - quirky retro but not my taste
Rosie - trendy and cutesy (but Rose lovely)
Josie - cutesy (but Josephine lovely)
Bryony- elegant, vintage feel
Harriet- classic, if slightly "jolly hockey sticks"
Celia - elegant, Shakespearean beauty
Adele - okay
Callinda (Callie) - looks too much of a "smoosh"/invented, prefer Calista
Cassandra (Cassie) - elegant classical beauty
Juno - quirky classical beauty
Leah - okay
Georgina (Gina) - classic, if slightly "jolly hocky sticks"
Maria - very classic
Emma - very classic, if maybe slightly dull?
Zoe - nothing wrong, just not my taste
Tamara - lovely but perhaps slightly 80's/90's?
Tamsin - nice enough
Matilda (Mattie) - nice but perhaps a bit overused (although Tilly more so)

For me I'd pick Magnus and Celia, 2nd choice Rufus and Cassandra. Although I do like Maria, Bryony and Juno and more popular Henry and Rowan too!

FayCarew · 17/11/2021 22:12

Rufus - the only one I know is a dachshund
George - fine
Magnus - fine
Finn - too trendy and there are lots of Finleys
Rowan - nice but ruined by Roman being so poular
Henry - fine
Donald (Donnie) - Donny is better and probably the best on your list

Astrid - like but a bit too current
Polly - like
Rosie - too popular
Josie - not keen.
Bryony - not keen
Harriet - like
Celia - celia lips. not keen. Delia is nicer
Adele - dislike
Callinda (Callie) - dislike
Cassandra (Cassie) -Only Fools & Horses
Juno - Just No
Leah - a bit too gentle sounding and Lots of similar names around
Georgina (Gina) - like
Maria - like
Emma - like
Zoe - like
Tamara - like
Tamsin - like
Matilda (Mattie) - too popular

toastofthetown · 17/11/2021 22:19

Rufus - love Rufus, it's a great name
George - dull, bland, so popular
Magnus - love it as well, my favourite of your boys names
Finn - it's ok, kind of bland by it's popularity. I think it will date a bit
Rowan - I like Rowan, but it's in the top hundred along with the rapidly rising Roman so would avoid for that
Henry - I like Henry, despite it's popularity
Donald (Donnie) - I think Trump has made this pretty unusable for a good few years

Astrid - nice but rising RAPIDLY in popularity
Polly - love Polly, People will talk about parrots and crackers but I really don't think that's a big deal
Rosie - just bland. It was popular when I was at school and I don't know why it's currently a top ten name. I like Rosalind and Rosemary
Josie - I really hate the -ie/-y nickname as a full name thing. It's been going on for so long it's just twee and tired to me. Can't wait for this trend to be over
Bryony - love Bryony. Sits in a great place with being familiar but not too popular
Harriet - just can't warm to it. So many nicer names
Celia - I love Cecily and Cecilia, but not Celia
Adele - fine, inoffensive but dull
Callinda (Callie) - googled it and the first hit was a font. There are other nicer longer forms for Callie
Cassandra (Cassie) - Cassandra feels pretty dated to me. I prefer Cassia, it feels fresher
Juno - feels trendy, though it's not actually too popular
Leah - fine, inoffensive but dull
Georgina (Gina) - Georgina is ok, prefer Georgiana
Maria - nice
Emma - dull as dishwater
Zoe - kinda dated, was popular when I was at school
Tamara - kinda dated again
Tamsin - another dated one. Just to say here that being dated isn't objectively bad. Just some people want to avoid a name more tied to a previous generation. For me most dated names just feel a bit tired and done because they've already been through their peak of popularity
Matilda (Mattie) - dull and a bit tired now

hoomama · 17/11/2021 22:23

I like Magnus, Finn and Rosie

bloominglovelyorange · 17/11/2021 22:27

Love George, Magnus and Henry also Donnie

Love Polly, Harriet, Juno, Emma, Zoe and Matilda (Mattie)

Rowan is my baby girls name by the way. I prefer for a girl still but do regret using it because of the booming popularity of RoMan with an M which is the fastest rising boy name and now top 30. The name Rowan always seems to be misheard for Roman or shortened to Row which I really dislike

WeasilyPleased · 17/11/2021 23:13

Rufus... love it
George...a bit stodgy
Magnus...nice
Finn...boring
Rowan...nice
Henry...stuffy
Donald (Donnie)...NO!!!

Maria...3 of my friend's mums so no
Emma...love it
Zoe...love it
Tamara...no
Tamsin...no but love Tasmin.
Matilda (Mattie)...love

kindlyensure · 17/11/2021 23:20

Magnus or Astrid.

lottiegarbanzo · 17/11/2021 23:25

Good list!

I'd drop Henry (too conventional compared to your others)

Are you sure about Callinda rather than Calista or Calliope?

I'd go with Rufus or Magnus

Girls, any of them but less keen on Leah, Harriet, Maria, Juno.

Kite22 · 17/11/2021 23:44

George is nice
Finn falls into my 'not too bad' category

Josie - I like as a shortening of Josephine
Cassandra (Cassie) - Okay - I like Cassie, but less keen on Cassandra
Georgina (Gina) - I think if you want Gina, then call her Gina, which is quite nice. If you call her Georgina she'll get called Georgie more than likely.
Maria - Nice enough. Bit dated but okay-ish
Emma - I like
Zoe I really like

Shasha17 · 18/11/2021 04:22

Boys:
I really like Rufus, and like Magnus. Not fussed by the others - Finn and Rowan are too popular and becoming a bit boring. Donald is horrible.

Really like Astrid, Polly, Harriet, Celia, Adele, Juno, Maria

I really like Rose, and Rosa, but not Rosie as a given name
I really like Josie, but short for Josephine, not as a full name
I really like Cassia, nn Cassie, but not Cassandra.
I like Callie but not Callinda
Matilda, Zoe, Bryony, Emma and Leah are fine
Don't like Tamsin, Tamara, or Georgina, and I strongly dislike Gina

gaslady14 · 18/11/2021 06:38

George and Emma are my favourites, Polly and Zoe are also lovely

Dislike Donald and Magnus for a boy, Callinda, Cassandra and Celia for a girl.

Peachbubble · 18/11/2021 06:55

I like:

Rufus
George
Magnus
Finn
Henry

Polly
Rosie
Harriet
Callie
Emma

Anotherhill · 18/11/2021 07:04

Boys - like rufus, George and Finn

Girls -don’t like Callinda - sounds like calendar ( and autocorrected to it too) Do quite like Callie on its own.
My favourite girls are Rosie, Josie and Emma.

AnyaMoondial · 18/11/2021 07:06

Polly and Magnus are my favourites.

honkytonkheroe · 18/11/2021 07:09

Rufus is good for a dog. Of your boys names I like Finn the most and of the girls I like Josie and Matilda but shortened to Tildy.
