Be interested to know people’s opinions on Jessica. Is it dated or a classic? It’s retained its popularity for a long time now. I love the solid nn options too.

I think it's a really nice name

DukkaDukka · 31/10/2021 14:22

Lovely and would be something different in the hundreds of Evies and Islas and Avas.

Bonnytoon · 31/10/2021 14:29

It's a lovely name

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 31/10/2021 16:11

It's a little bit dated (reminds me of the 90s) but I'd say it's classic too as it's still pretty popular and never really falls too far out of fashion. I'd put it on a par with Hannah and Abigail.

Plus there's a Shakespearean Jessica and that's always good for bolstering a name's classic credentials Smile

RubyRedSlippers1 · 31/10/2021 16:13

It's OK. Like a pp, I'd put it in the same bracket as Abigail or Hannah. They aren't my favourite names, but absolutely nothing offensive about any of them.

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/10/2021 16:35

I think of it as a Shakespearean name similar to Portia,Rosalind, Juliet, Miranda, Viola,,Beatrice etc

elfran · 31/10/2021 16:36

Hmm, I've got to admit that I really dislike Jessica; despite its classical/Shakespeare heritage I firmly associate it with girls I grew up with in the 80s/90s. So more like Ashley, Amanda and Kimberly than Hannah and Abigail (which I find much nicer).

I am from North America though, so I think it has a slightly different vibe there (I barely know any Jessicas my age here!).

Hm2020 · 31/10/2021 16:39

I like it and know one who’s lovely so may be biased

17caterpillars1mouse · 31/10/2021 16:43

Lovely name, it's a classic, I don't find it dated at all and Jess is a lovely, fiesty NN for it. The only thing I don't like about Jessica is that it's often shortened to Jessie which I just find a bit meh.

I only know one child Jessica, she is just under 3

BasiliskStare · 31/10/2021 16:47

Think it is lovely - and not a "fashionable name " but vey lovely - I am a fan of not worrying about whether other people knew a person of a name and therefore not using it - My first boyfriend had a dog called the same name as eldest DS - Do I care - not one jot. I think a lovely name and as you say hard to think of a nn which could be bad. Flowers

Figgygal · 31/10/2021 16:54

It’s a fave of mine

Yika · 31/10/2021 16:55

Terrific song by the Allman Brothers, too :)

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2021 19:02

I love it plus Jess and Jessie are gorgeous too

NigellaSeedofChucky · 31/10/2021 19:39

It's nice. Was quite common when I was a kid but now I think it would be refreshing.

LaPufalina · 31/10/2021 19:42

My favourite girls' name too Smile a best friend used it so I didn't but still regret that a bit, particularly as she emigrated!

PinkCheetah · 31/10/2021 19:56

I think this is a lovely name OP. Classic and you can't go wrong.

Ihaveoflate · 31/10/2021 20:02
