Hi all

Not looking for opinions on the name, just a sense of how popular Toby is in your area and the age of those children with the name. For example are there several babies called Toby that you know or several children called Toby in your DC's nursery/class at school?

Thanks in advance Smile

I know a couple of Tobys - one in DC’s class, one outside school. Neither unusual nor excessively popular.

countydown1989 · 27/09/2021 12:58

A Tobias in my daughters pre school

LastToBePicked · 27/09/2021 12:59

(These are children around 7-8 I should have said - I know adult Tobys as well)

2tired2bewitty · 27/09/2021 13:02

I have a Y1 one who appears to be the only one in his school, and I know of another slightly smaller one locally and another aged 4ish where we used to live in Essex.

It’s a great name 😄

Blubells · 27/09/2021 13:02

Very popular

RavenclawsRoar · 27/09/2021 13:03

Quite a lot in my area, primary school aged. Haven't met any little/baby ones recently though.

Clevs · 27/09/2021 13:12

I have a Toby (3) but don't know of any other children with the name. I know of three adults, one of which is a GP.

ofwarren · 27/09/2021 13:15

I dont know any at all

FunnysInLaJardin · 27/09/2021 13:21

I know one Toby and he lives in Australia, also DH's dog from about 30 years ago was Toby Grin

number87inthequeue · 27/09/2021 13:37

Very popular in my area. I know 8, all aged 5-9

trumpisagit · 27/09/2021 13:46

Now 12 year olds there's 2 across what was 3 primary school classes in our village.
I have met 3 others locally aged 4, 8, 10 ish.
I would say medium but not very popular.

Ahhhhhbisto · 27/09/2021 14:33

I only know of two Toby's in DS's primary school, around 8-10 year bracket.

One may belong to me....it's a great name Wink

emmathedilemma · 27/09/2021 14:34

Wracking my brain through names of friends kids, their friends etc and apart from one I used to work with who’d be in his mid 40’s now I can’t think of any. I’m in Scotland so it may be less popular here.

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 27/09/2021 14:37

I don't know any people named Toby but have come across a fair few dogs

spiderlight · 27/09/2021 15:51

I only know one - he's 14.

IVflytrap · 27/09/2021 16:19

I only know one, who's about one now. Quite surprising because it's such a nice name (sorry I know you didn't want opinions Grin)

r0ck · 27/09/2021 16:22

I know of two in my son's year and one in a younger year but there are certainly other names which I hear a lot more so I wouldn't call it unusually popular.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/09/2021 16:24

One Tobias and one dog.

Ozberry · 27/09/2021 16:24

I love the name Toby. I know one who is my age, so mid 40s and another the same age as DS19.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/09/2021 16:24

Forgot to add that the Tobias is nearly 12.

DrillHammerChisel · 27/09/2021 16:28

I know one Tobias aged 11, one Toby aged 6 and many dogs of varying ages called Toby!

Tigger85 · 27/09/2021 16:48

The only Toby I have ever known was a boy I went to primary school with, he will be mid 30s now.

Blubells · 27/09/2021 16:48

I know lots of Tobys aged 5-10 as well as many dogs!

Skyla2005 · 27/09/2021 18:12

We have a girl tobi at our school but no boys

Colinthecaterpillar35 · 27/09/2021 18:41

Thanks everyone Smile not quite as popular as I first thought (which is good in my opinion!). He may get mistaken for a dog but I can live with that!!
