Please cast your votes!
Cassandra?
Serena?

Which one is nicer and why?
After a very long time picking a perfect name and settling on Cecilia, baby really doesn't look like Cecilia Grin!
Husband prefers Cassandra, I think I like Serena better.

Cassandra definitely. Classy, and won't date like Serena will.

Also, NN Cass, or Cassie are lovely.

eddiemairswife · 14/09/2021 17:37

Serena is in The Handmaid's Tale. Cassandra was a Greek prophet(ess).

Smurftastic · 14/09/2021 17:50

I thought both names are quite low in rankings right now so unlikely to date? Plus latin origin of Serena and mythological of Cassandra makes them similar style. I read somewhere that Cassandra was more common in the 80s.

I don't like the Sandra part of Cassandra

JaneJeffer · 14/09/2021 17:59

Call her Cecelia. She'll grow to look like one.

Comedycook · 14/09/2021 18:00

Serena

emmathedilemma · 14/09/2021 18:20

I don't particularly like either but prefer Serena. Cassandra just reminds me of only fools and horses!
Cecily rather than Cecilia?

BeKindBeYou · 14/09/2021 18:21

Cassandra! What a beautiful name!

Corcra · 14/09/2021 18:23

Celia or Serena

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 14/09/2021 18:25

Serena is lovely, sounds elegant, serene and classy and it's timeless.

It also can't be shortened (at least not to anything sensible). Also, Serena Williams is a good role model for any girl.

Kanaloa · 14/09/2021 18:27

I’d go with Cassandra, I also like Cassie for a nickname. I like Selena and Sabrina but for some reason not Serena although they all sound similar!

It does remind me of only fools and horses but it’s not a particularly bad association.

toastofthetown · 14/09/2021 18:28

I prefer Serena. Cassandra feels dated to me.

MrsFin · 14/09/2021 18:31

Cassandra, in case she turns out not to be very serene Grin

xprincessxjanetx · 14/09/2021 19:16

Serena

Standrewsschool · 14/09/2021 19:16

Cassandra, with Cassie as nn

BobGalaxy · 14/09/2021 19:20

I like the Cass part of Cassandra, but not so much the Sandra part. Have you considered Cassia?

boxesboxes · 14/09/2021 19:33

I prefer Serena, on the basis that Cassandra was cursed in that she was never believed, and Cassandra is too American for my tastes.

TatianaBis · 14/09/2021 20:23

Serena is a classic it won't date.

I've never seen OFAH so my reference for Cassandra is Greek myth.

I like them both - lucky dip?

LouLion · 14/09/2021 21:45

I love Serena. It won't date as it's never been that popular. Serena Williams is a good bearer of the name. It sounds beautiful and tranquil, yet strong. Not keen on Cassandra. Hate the nn Cassie and it just reminds me of 'only fools and horses ' - quite 80s.

Honeyroar · 14/09/2021 21:50

Serena.
I like Cassie but Cassandra is awful.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2021 21:52

I like both, but Cecilia is even nicer. She'll grow into her name whatever you call her.

notangelinajolie · 14/09/2021 21:54

Cassandra is classy

Wole · 14/09/2021 21:57

Serena

Or Samara?

DukeOfEarlGrey · 14/09/2021 21:58

I don't like either. Cassandra prophesied a lot of doom! I would go for Cecilia.

Wole · 14/09/2021 21:59

There was a Cassandra in only fools and horses, thats what I think of when I hear the name
