Interested in thoughts on this name.
Would be used with a very unusual, pretty, one syllable middle name.

Love it

BikeRunSki · 01/09/2021 16:34

It is a name that has served me well for several decades x it’s also my dd and dn’s middle name. Family connection. I do have a fondness for it!

Fluffykins1986 · 01/09/2021 16:39

Thanks! Should add, middle name is already chosen :)

I think it's 2nd to Elizabeth in the timeless classic stakes - so Alice is pretty much a "can't go wrong name" imo. Someone on here will always mention the Chubby Brown song puts them off or the fact it looks like "A Lice" - but the fact it's been popular for so long (but rarely top 10 popular) and so there are lots of namesakes and it won't date, overcomes that to me.

Fluffykins1986 · 01/09/2021 17:11

Thank you! That’s exactly what I want: I absolutely do not want something that’s top 20 now, and will always be “very 2021”! Keen to avoid a name that is growing in popularity. If everyone could stop using Alice that would be great 🤣

I love it. It was my first choice name but decided against as a close male relative is called Alex (same surname) and it sounded too similar.

Classica · 01/09/2021 17:22

I’m not personally a massive fan but I think it’s fine and no one would ever be embarrassed to be called Alice. Surely somewhere near the Top 20 though? Feels like it’s a steadily popular name.

What’s the unusual and pretty middle name? Feel free to tell me to mind my beeswax!

Monkeytapper · 01/09/2021 17:24

Lovely name

Fluffykins1986 · 01/09/2021 17:26

It’s just dropped from 25 to 30, so it’s definitely popular. I think I more mean a name that’s stormed into top 20 and will storm out again just as fast! 😊
I won’t say the middle name but there are fewer than 10 in the UK each year and I think it’s lovely!
Thanks all 😊

I love it
It’s timeless and classic
It suits young and old alike and can’t really be dated

Longdistance · 01/09/2021 17:29

I have a 10yo Alice. Still love her name.

mellongoose · 01/09/2021 17:46

Our Alice is nearly 20. Still suits her.

Lonelylooloo · 01/09/2021 17:48

I wanted Alice soooo bad. Always had my heart set on it. Unfortunately it’s too close to my DH’s name … and he refused to change his… arse Grin

CaffiSaliMali · 01/09/2021 17:56

Alice is lovely, I have Alys on my list which is the Welsh spelling. It's a great name, as a PP said classic and timeless as it's never been uber popular at any point so won't date.

It will also go nicely with a more unusual middle name.

Tlollj · 01/09/2021 18:00

Love Alice. Please tell us the middle name I’m intrigued.

JennaPenna · 01/09/2021 18:02

LOVE Alice

Angel2702 · 01/09/2021 18:08

I love it, it’s my middle name and as I hate my first name I’ve always wished it was my name.

TenThousandSpoons · 01/09/2021 18:11

Love it. Pretty but strong, timeless classic.

CoodleMoodle · 01/09/2021 18:46

I love it. It's my DD's middle name and I was almost sad that we used it in case we had another daughter one day (we had a boy). But it's beautiful and I sometimes call DD Alice if she doesn't respond to her real name Wink

woodhill · 01/09/2021 18:50

Beautiful name

QueenAstrid · 01/09/2021 18:51

I love it

scrivette · 01/09/2021 18:52

Lovely simple classic name that works as an adult or child. I think it's really pretty.

Twinkie01 · 01/09/2021 18:53

Love it. Only know one so it's not too popular.

freelions · 01/09/2021 18:59

My DD's name, she is 18 now, it was always my favourite girl's name from being quite young so I was very relieved that my DH agreed to it

My Alice also has quite an unusual middle name

It's very much a timeless classic
