(They both have totally normal names)

I know a Rhiannon so nAmed for exactly this reason.

When I had my first scans weren't available so I had no idea of the sex of the baby . I really wanted a girl so didn't pick any boys name but was determined I would call a DD Dawn . She was Dawn for my whole pregnancy. When she was born the midwife said ' you have a beautiful little girl, what are you calling her?'

All my visitors were coming in saying that our little Dawn is beautiful and I was having to correct them every time . My poor husband also didn't know of the name change till he arrived back from abroad 3 days later .

The first three might not have gone down too well at their Scottish state school, I recognise that now, but I’m still miffed about Magnus & Odin.

DC1 was nearly Clement Darius. Thank heavens a colleague talked me out of it with a polite “Oh lovely! That’s a… big name to live up to.”

Friend of mine had hyperemisis right up to the birth of her son, followed by a crash section. She said she was genuinely surprised when the hormones and drugs wore off a few days later and realised they’d given him a very mainstream name!

I blame my DH - who was most put out when I wouldn’t consider Sarah because it was his ex fiancée’s name (it’s a nice name apparently ). So I don’t get all my lovely names DH but you get to name our DD after your ex? Yeah, jog on, you plonker.
