Mine would have been Isambard and Isis !

It’s just as well that you get 6 weeks to register a bi try h.

I wanted to call DD (born on 2016) Karen. Probably lucky that DH vetoed. I was convinced it was going to come back into fashion and we'd be ahead of the curve...

Persephone

Noroiscoming · 30/08/2021 17:29

Andromeda and Agamemnon. They have Greek heritage and we lived in Greece at the time. Life happened, and we now live on a run down English council estate. Thank fuck I didn't call them that.

nancybotwinbloom · 30/08/2021 17:29

@TheVanguardSix

Ophelia. Still annoyed I didn't call her that.

I came SOOO close to calling DD that. That was THE name. And then, I'm standing there, about to go into see the midwife (routine appointment) and I find myself staring at a framed poster of that infamous painting of Ophelia by John Everett Millais.
I just thought, "Nah!" after years of yearning to use this name. Grin

Just googled that and you've taken some of my regret away Grin

@MinesAMassiveSalad

Gabriel. I still like it but everyone (including the neighbour) said no way!
I loved it too, we did go for it as a middle name
DowntonCrabby · 30/08/2021 17:54

Outing if my family read this as it’s totally batshit but Grover. I often wish I’d had the balls to stick to my hormonal guns.

3GreenPullups · 30/08/2021 17:55

Girl

Isis, Hera or Leveret

Boy

Horatio, Agamemnon or Tobermory.

(actually i like Tobermory).

My ILs were living in Greece at the time which is why i wanted Agamemnon!

Salve. I’m sure dd5 will be glad when she’s 15 that I came to my senses quickly!

I was set on Gloria for DD2. My dad ripped the piss. She didn't look like a Gloria or the backup names. I said to my husband I just wanted a name full of life and he suggested Zoe which means life. And it just fit. Still love Gloria though.

@WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly

Rosalice. I liked the mash up of Rose and Alice. Don’t know what I was thinking, it’s horrible 😂
Glad you changed your mind, I read this as Rosa-lice!

Roswitha
Ekaterina
Yael.

@Hoppinggreen, Gabriel was a serious contender for DS’s name! So serious I was on the short list for if DD had been a boy.

When considering names I was very mindful that we live in an old out village!

Those were nearby my niece’s midfke names (both have family connections), but they were swapped round at the last minute.

I loved it and still do.
DS said he is very glad DH vetoed it though, although he would have loved to have been called Lucifer - which was my hormone induced favourite.

Furtheron · 30/08/2021 19:39

Ooh, I still wish I'd called one of mine Boadicea! But didn't.

Eileen101 · 30/08/2021 19:42

Atticus or Abraham for DS

Florence for DD. When pregnant DH vetoed Caleb for a boy. Still would. Maybe next time... If there even is a next time.

entrytohr · 30/08/2021 19:43

If DS 1 had been a girl he was going to have rose as his middle name. My surname's Cox, it sounds rude no matter what the first name is. He's lucky he's a boy, his dad didn't notice the innuendo!

MintyGreenDream · 30/08/2021 19:46

SoSoSoSleepy · 30/08/2021 19:47

Ariadne - a bit much with a double barrelled surname though, plus my sister said it reminded her of spiders!
