If you heard the name what would your first thought be on spelling? (Really don't like isobel spelling).

Isabelle. I don’t think the other one is a common spelling?

LiveSimply · 29/08/2021 21:33

I would spell it Isabelle :)

moomin11 · 29/08/2021 21:34

Isabelle

Lulu1919 · 29/08/2021 21:40

See I'd spell it
Isobel

Soulstirring · 29/08/2021 21:40

I prefer isobel too

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2021 21:41

Isabel. Isabelle is unnecessarily frilly and too 'pretty'.

Basilandparsleyandmint · 29/08/2021 21:42

Isabelle it’s the French version and lovely

Lockdownbear · 29/08/2021 21:43

Isobel, rather than Isabelle.

ballsdeep · 29/08/2021 21:49

I have Isabel

MattyGroves · 29/08/2021 21:49

Isabel or Isobel. I think it's odd to use the French spelling if you're not French

Immybee · 29/08/2021 21:52

Isabelle as it's just beautiful...and my daughter's name 😍

MadeOfStarStuff · 29/08/2021 21:52

Isobel is my favourite spelling but of your two choices I much prefer Isabel. Isabelle is too unnecessarily frilly

Noshowwithoutpunch · 29/08/2021 21:54

Isabelle

My thought would be Isobel first. I prefer Isabel over Isabelle

NannyR · 29/08/2021 21:57

I prefer Isabel, I find the -belle ending a bit too pretty and frilly.

AuntieStella · 29/08/2021 21:57

Isabel

(I'm not French)

tintodeverano2 · 29/08/2021 22:01

Isabel

@MattyGroves

Isabel or Isobel. I think it's odd to use the French spelling if you're not French
But isn't the Isabel spelling of Spanish origin and Isobel is Scottish I think.
OlivesTree · 29/08/2021 22:02

Isobel.

Yup. I have an Isabel. Love it. I thought I was spelling it the more usual way, confused by comments thinking it's not a real spelling?
hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 29/08/2021 22:48

Isabelle

DotDotDotDotDot · 29/08/2021 22:52

Isabelle seems to be the most common spelling in the UK in recent years in case that influences you either way (no. 28 in 2019). Seems a bit strange that pp would say they wouldn’t use it if they’re not French, why would that matter? Isabel is the Spanish spelling. Anyway both spellings are fine in my opinion, a lovely name choice.

EdgeOfACoin · 29/08/2021 23:00

Isabel.

Isobel is the Scottish spelling. Isabelle is French and a bit too flowery for me.

daisypond · 29/08/2021 23:04

Isabel.
