Thoughts on the name Robin please?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Great choice.

Svenalma · 23/08/2021 21:47

Twee and wet

ActonSquirrel · 23/08/2021 21:48

Nice. Can use Rob as a nickname if he likes

DotDotDotDotDot · 23/08/2021 22:43

Love it for a girl, less so for a boy.

Bimblybomeyelash · 23/08/2021 22:44

Lovely

SherbertLemons · 23/08/2021 22:44

Extremely wet. Sorry

DramaAlpaca · 23/08/2021 22:45

Sorry but I'm with Svenalma on this. Politely put, I like stronger names and Robin doesn't fit that brief.

Elouera · 23/08/2021 22:49

Sorry, I don't associate a man with a tiny robin! Not a dreadful name, but not keen myself. Is it family connection? Could it be a middle name instead? What is it you like about the name? Any others you like?

jackstini · 23/08/2021 22:50

Not keen for a boy tbh

I keep thinking of Robin Day

I do know 2 female ones and really suits them

Ozberry · 23/08/2021 22:51

Makes me think of Christopher Robin. Cute, I think.

Warmduscher · 23/08/2021 22:52

Maybe the OP isn’t constrained by gender stereotypes in the same way you are.

OP, I really like it - much more as a boys’ name than a girls’ name (and isn’t that normally Robyn?).

Babydust13 · 23/08/2021 22:55

I like it for a girl

user1471443026 · 23/08/2021 22:56

Love it

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/08/2021 22:57

It's okay - but I'd probably assume hippy/earthy parents or a Winter baby unless it was a cute nn for Robert (which I prefer).

GreenMeeple · 23/08/2021 23:12

Lovely name for a boy. All the Robins I know are boys/men. And I associate it with names like Robin Hood and Robin Williams.

RolloTomassi · 23/08/2021 23:14

I've always thought of it as wet and weedy.

MaraScottie · 23/08/2021 23:15

I think it's lovely.

JaninaDuszejko · 23/08/2021 23:15

Much prefer it as a boy's name than a girl's name.

mildlymiffed · 23/08/2021 23:17

Love it

FriedasCarLoad · 23/08/2021 23:19

All the Robins I've known have been big tough men!

I've known a few women called Robyn, but never seen Robin used for a woman.

KittenKong · 23/08/2021 23:22

Don’t know if it’s a Scottish thing, but I’ve known a few male robins. None teased for the Christopher Robin or Batman connection though (although definitely for the wee fat bird - I have a selection of robin red breast Christmas cards for that very reason).

RiaOverTheRainbow · 23/08/2021 23:35

It's one of my favourites for a hypothetical ds.
