Are you in Wales ? As that makes a difference re how they will be pronounced.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/08/2021 21:39

Nia is gorgeous - has a lovely history but thanks to the popularity of similar Mia and Nina, it's easy/obvious to pronounce for non- Welsh speakers and those not familiar with the name imo.

Seren is also lovely but slightly trendy. I'm a bit "blah" on Ffion and Lowri.

Other suggestions: I love Eirian, Eirlys and Eira too (and well as related Aneira, Gwyneira, and Eirwen) but they may have "Ay" vs "Eye" confusion. But Gwen, Tesni, Rhiannon, Alys, Anwen and Morwenna are also lovely and seem fairly straightforward?

SuperCaliFragalistic · 09/08/2021 21:42

Love Alys, Anwen and Ariana.

Potatoy · 09/08/2021 21:50

Olwen
Behan

Ffion is my absolute favourite. I know one and she has to correct people calling her Fiona occasionally or FFion.

Potatoy · 09/08/2021 21:51

Seren is a bit trendy atm as PP said. Are you in/near Wales?

chorusline79 · 09/08/2021 21:54

I know 3 lovely sisters called Nia, Lowri and Rhian and they are all beautiful and the loveliest girls so I just love all 3 of these names!

ActonSquirrel · 09/08/2021 21:55

Alys

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 09/08/2021 22:10

I really dislike Lowri, I don’t like the sound of it somehow.

Love Seren

Also like Rhian, Bethan

TheSkatesOfCoachBombay · 09/08/2021 22:16

If you don't live in Wales I'd go for Nia. It's just Mia with a N sound at the start so people should get it/be able to pronounce it.

Seren is a bit of a trendy in name and overused recently.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 09/08/2021 22:26

Seren has been done to death since the 90s unfortunately.
Nia is less popular and still nice.

I like
Llinos
Aneira
Mair

Try watching a few of the brilliant Welsh dramas like Hidden, Hinterland and Keeping Faith... lots of ideas on there.

Datsandcogs · 09/08/2021 22:35

Lots of lovely suggestions already, I also love Angharad.

Another vote for Alys

NativityDreaming · 09/08/2021 23:15

@LizzieBet14

I love Alys. Ps I taught a boy called Ffion - his dad was Irish.....
Are you sure it wasn't Fionn? That's an Irish boys name, pronounced differently to Ffion.
DragonMamma · 09/08/2021 23:18

Lots of lovely Welsh names to choose from - I’d avoid Seren as it’s extremely popular if you’re living here. I’d also avoid Lowri as you’d get people saying Low-ree or Law-red.

Some others to consider

Mali
Cari
Anwen
Eleri
Elin
Enfys (which means rainbow)
Haf (which I love!)
Gwenno
Manon
Non
Tirion - although the one I know is sick of having to explain that it’s not a boys name (thanks to GoT)

DragonMamma · 09/08/2021 23:18

*Law-ree Blush

DotBall · 09/08/2021 23:18

I love Morwenna. I had a boy though, so that was that 😀
