Don't know what to name our baby

NoHeavenNoMore · 24/07/2021 18:18

Please help!
Our baby girl is due in a few weeks and we're totally stuck. Any suggestions welcome and will be considered!!

Names we both like but can't settle on are:

Sadie
Aubrey
Taylor
Harper
India

We like the names but nothing feels quite "right". Did anyone else have this problem? Everyone we speak to was settled on their baby name from like, conception 😅
Thanks in advance

Just wait and see what she's like when she's here, sometimes you just 'know' when they're born.

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2021 18:21

We don't have the same taste so I can't help on that, but you'll find the right name. You might need to see her before it comes to you.

Justmuddlingalong · 24/07/2021 18:23

Only 1 of my 3 had a name before birth. 1 was named after and the other we didn't use the name we thought we wanted.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 24/07/2021 18:25

Marnie
Everly
Isla
Darcy
Dallas
Eden
Morgan
Piper
Romy
Quinn

We are due a little girl in a few weeks also picked her name out as soon as we knew the sex just like our DD before

It's hard tho isn't it you just want the perfect name
I agree with PP that the name will come to you when she is here if not before

WoMandalorian · 24/07/2021 18:32

Magic Baby names could help. You type in the names you like and they give you similar suggestions. Beware though, you will get some out there ones on the lists 😅

I would wait until baby is here. She might fit one more than the others.

With my second it took ages to agree on a girls name (we didn't know the sex in advance) but when she was born it just didn't suit her. We changed it for another name on our list which is perfect for her.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/07/2021 18:35

Tessa
Marnie
Kitty

From your list I adore Sadie and India

HuntingoftheSnark · 24/07/2021 19:11

From your list I like India - I know that Aubrey is unisex but I think of it as a boys' name. Love Audrey though. I'd decided DD's name based on where she was born rather than what she looked like, so yes kind of from conception. DD is nearly 24 and I still love her name - it's classic and not too common.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 24/07/2021 19:13

You really cannot go wrong with classics

My all time favourite girls name is Alexandra

Not in the top 100 so not many.

Abundant nn potential.

Alex is bad ass.
Lexi is cute.
Lexa is nice

Oncewassmith · 24/07/2021 19:14

I was set on calling my daughter Seren (star); but in a total woo way (normally no woo at all) her name came to me in a vivid dream. So not saying that will happen to you, but keep yourself open to ideas from anywhere and you might find the perfect choice

CrouchEndTiger12 · 24/07/2021 19:14

Don't like any of yours sorry

Sadie - nope
Aubrey - I know a family with that as a surname
Taylor - boys
Harper - beckham
India - it's country usually with Rose as the default nn.

Go for classics

DotDotDotDotDot · 24/07/2021 19:15

I like Sadie and India from your list. Suggestions are Nancy, Scarlett, Matilda or Edie. Good luck.

It's so difficult! This is my first and I just feel so much pressure to get it 'right'. Good luck with your new baby girl Thanks

Forgot to add, I like Heidi too.

Thank you everyone - I feel like I won't have a choice but to wait until she arrives, but nice to know that many others have been in this position too!

Love Sadie!!! 😍😍😍😍 Don't like the others sorry

RavenclawsRoar · 24/07/2021 19:31

Oh I like Heidi so that gets my vote.

PattyPan · 24/07/2021 19:32

Personally I would rule out Aubrey (it’s a male name) and Taylor. Sadie is lovely.

StevieNix · 24/07/2021 19:36

From your suggestions I love Sadie and Heidi.
Other names I love that you may like:
Maeve
Joanie / Joni
Nancy
Polly
Orla
Maggie

Zarene · 24/07/2021 19:39

Sadie or Heidi!!! Both great names.

But like PP - I had a moment as soon as DD was born when I just knew what her name was (from our shortlist). Didn't matter a jot that we weren't sure beforehand.

FlippingKipper · 24/07/2021 19:44

Heidi!! Now that you've added that, it's a CLEAR winner. Lovely name. Suits all ages. Not overly common, but not totally weird. Use Heidi!

user1493494961 · 24/07/2021 19:58

India's nice, Heidi OK, Taylor and Harper downmarket.
