Well they are all quite short and in keeping with the sort of style of 2021.

I was struggling with a boys name and I think we will go with Cameron. Can be shortened to Cammy.

Benjamin is #2 on our list

You've gone shorter names..maybe your DH doesn't like that style?

jojojo82 · 21/07/2021 14:08

Zachary
Louis
Leon
Max
Joseph
Irvin / Erwin

Horehound · 21/07/2021 14:10

Nicholas / Nick

Thomas / Tom

Katefoster · 21/07/2021 14:10

I really like Magnus but DH dosent. Not too keen on the rest sorry. I don't like anything too popular. DH likes names like Wyatt, Eli, Axel. All not my style I didn't think they would be his either. He does like Freddie but it's too popular for my liking so that's why Wilfred is in there as we could call him Wilf or Freddie. Girls names are so much easier

Middle names will be Francis Joseph after family members

iamdashi · 21/07/2021 14:11

Your names are all really popular btw. Really 2020/21. Which is fine, only you mention you don't want popular.

Katefoster · 21/07/2021 14:11

I prefer Joseph Francis but DH wants francis at the beginning as he says second middle names usually get dropped and Francis is very important to us

Katefoster · 21/07/2021 14:12

@iamdashi oh really?? I didn't know that, oh dear. I keep checking the ONS but they didn't seem that popular.

Horehound · 21/07/2021 14:16

I'm struggling to know what your style is actually because Olive is popular yet classic whereas your boys names seem faddy to me.

I agree that if you have an important name for middle names it should go first. Nicholas Francis is good :) hehe

iamdashi · 21/07/2021 14:17

I think it's regional - I'm in north London and I hear these all the time. Maybe not Heston.

Horehound · 21/07/2021 14:18

Elliot?

Oh oh oh Elliot Francis is lovely!

Katefoster · 21/07/2021 14:22

@Horehound I honestly don't know my style, ive been collecting baby name lists for years and now none seem right it's so hard. Ah sorry I reallt don't like Nicolas 🤦🏽‍♀️ I like Elliot buy a close friend has called her baby that so I can't use it. Ah Damn I just don't want a name that's super popular.
I don't think Olive is that popular yet but it may be rising

Horehound · 21/07/2021 14:27

You can deffo use a name even if your friend has used it.

Robert?
Jamie?
Sydney...Sydney Francis love that too!!

Miliao · 21/07/2021 15:17

I’m also in London and the names you’ve listed are super popular, apart from Heston, I’ve not heard that. If you want something less popular, but classic, Peter, James, etc (the names of our era!) don’t seem to be popular anymore.

JungleBeats · 21/07/2021 15:26

Olive is super popular round here (London).

Just pick a name you both love.. if you can't make it to love, then a name you both like. Any name could become popular tomorrow.

hormonalhandbag · 21/07/2021 17:26

I love...
Jude
Mylo
Maxwell
&
Barney (close to your Barnaby)

How exciting!

sarah13xx · 21/07/2021 17:36

Your list is very similar to mine. I would have gone Jasper out of those names (if it wasn’t taken in our family). The other name I’m obsessed with is Finn but I know it’s becoming more popular than a lot of these names. My other names were Freddie, Kit, Ari and the name that’s really grown on me since being pregnant is Reuben

sarah13xx · 21/07/2021 17:37

Milo was another! Was watching a baby name video last night and Elio was the number one trending name on Pinterest. I really do like it

iamdashi · 21/07/2021 18:02

I second @Miliao if you want something unusual, go for timeless like Peter, James, Daniel, John. I've not met any of these in baby form.

I honestly meet so many Kits, Wilfies, Reubens, etc. They're all cute names, but you KNOW the parents were trying to be unique, and it's just not.

SummaLuvin · 21/07/2021 18:26

We have similar(ish) taste, my boys list is.

  • Joseph
  • Lucien
  • Moses

@iamdashi
Some are popular, many arent
Using Barnaby as an example, it's outside the top 250 names and has been falling in numbers for past 7 years. It peaked then at number 200

Hector also outside the top 250 names and not on an upswing

bloominglovelyorange · 21/07/2021 18:43

I'd avoid Rex Ralph Rufus if you're concerned about popularity. None are that popular but there's so many boy names that begin with R at the moment that are really overused Reuben, Rory Roman Ronnie for example are all overdone and top 100. Avoid those type of names

bloominglovelyorange · 21/07/2021 18:44

(As they all merge into one for me when you have classes full of R names)
