Edward or Stanley?

Edward or Stanley? And why please?

Due in a few weeks and finally narrowed down the shortlist.
Also considered Samuel or Rory but these names have recently been used by other friends.

Middle names will be Alfred Charles.

Thank you 😊

Edward. Stanley too trendy for my liking

RandomHomoSapien · 14/07/2021 17:03

Edward. Beautiful, classic, classy name.

Stanley is, frankly, awful. Sorry!

JofraArchersFastestBall · 14/07/2021 17:06

Edward. Classic, versatile, classless.

GlitchStitch · 14/07/2021 17:09

Edward, but I have one so I'm biased!

GagaBinks · 14/07/2021 17:17

I love Stanley and I don't know any so doesn't seem popular to me at all. Stan is cool teenager nickname too. I don't see it as a baby name but it's a great adult name

toastofthetown · 14/07/2021 17:20

I don’t like the flow of Edward Alfred Charles. There are three syllables out for four ending in D and it sounds clunky.

Lulu1919 · 14/07/2021 17:20

Edward I love Stanley but it's become a bit common and 'new'

HoldingTheDoor · 14/07/2021 17:35

Edward. Stanley is awful.

ParadiseLaundry · 14/07/2021 17:39

I love Edward.

Edward

Edward is much nicer and classic and fits with the middle names. Stanley does not.

TonkinLenkicks · 14/07/2021 18:49

Stanley!

FabulouslyFab · 14/07/2021 18:50

My grandson is Stanley Alfred. Alfred is after his great grandad. Since he was new he’s been called Stan 😁

BasiliskStare · 14/07/2021 18:53

Edward

cptartapp · 14/07/2021 19:00

Edward.
Because almost anything is better than Stanley.

Undersnatch · 14/07/2021 19:02

I adore Stanley - gutted to hear it may be becoming popular but I’d never be able to sell DH on it anyway. I like the sound, love the idea of a wee baby Stan, just a super cool name.

Edward for me is posh and dull!

Another888 · 14/07/2021 19:24

Stanley, very cute for a baby, still sounds good for an adult, flows nicely.

Edward sounds posh and stuffy to me.

KamalaVP · 14/07/2021 19:31

Edward - I think it stands the test of time better and can be personalised to Ed, Eddie, Ted, Woody or kept as Edward. Stanley seems to be a temporary trend and will be dated when he is older.

Chattercino · 14/07/2021 19:37

Edward! Stanley is awful.

FluffMagnet · 14/07/2021 19:52

Edward, by a country mile. I'm so baffled why Stanley is "back".

DennisTMenace · 14/07/2021 20:44

How on earth is Stanley new? I like them both. Also Edmund and Sidney on similar themes. Ds2 was nearly Edmund, but having an older toddler meant I heard it all day on Peppa bloody Pig. We are past that stage now though.

ZenNudist · 14/07/2021 21:01

Edward. Can't go wrong.

Samuel is great too. Don't let someone else put you off.

INeedtobealone · 14/07/2021 21:02

Edward

toolazytothinkofausername · 14/07/2021 21:05

I prefer Edward. Classic strong name.

Stanley- flat Stanley, Stan from Eminem, Stanley hand tools
