Very nice imo, it's one of those elegant -ia ending names (like Julia) which goes under the radar a bit by mostly hovering in the lower half of the top 100 or just outside it - yet is a classic that's everyones heard of and is easy to spell and pronounce.

I have always liked it but I had a good friend called Lydia and she was call chlamydia, lid the flyd and her non is Lid which I don't like. So I would steer clear

Unfortunately immediately makes me thing of chlamydia. When you get a chlamydia test, you get a text from 'Lydia' that gives your results.

I like Lydia. Surprised at the negativity here. Lydia isn’t massively dated, it was more popular about twenty years but it’s still relatively well used now. I think the chlamydia thing is a non issue. There were several Lydias when I was at school and I never heard that mentioned.

I love it. If I had, had a daughter it would probably have been a middle name.
My imaginary daughter is called Maya though!
Lydia is a lovely name and not too popular.

I think it's gorgeous. Classic name and very pretty. I really wanted to use it for my DD but DH could not be convinced.

why on Earth would you assume that?
you do know that both the name and the STD existed long before MN.
people had made that connection way before the Internet even existed.
I heard it several times outside of MN from people who are not on MN before I was on MN🤷‍♀️
