What's everyone's thought on the name Flora-belle or Florabelle?

To me, it sounds like a nickname given to a little girl named Flora.

Maribel, Mirabel(le), or Rosabel(le) would be nice if you want a -bel(le) name.

LadySorceress · 07/07/2021 14:35

Flora-belle isn't a thing, it should be spelled Flora-Belle, if I'm not mistaken.

But many comments here are way too rude. Florabelle isn't my choice, but it's no different name than Melissa, Katherine or Bethany. Yes, there's Flora and there's Belle, this isn't first smoosh name in history and many Germanic names might be smoosh names, such as Edward. Florabelle is fine.

I prefer Rosabelle and variants, though

It's very frilly. I think it would be lovely on a little girl but a bit awkward on a grown woman.

Kanaloa · 07/07/2021 15:42

Flora is nice. Maybe something like Flora Isabelle/Florence Isabelle then Florabell as a family nickname would work.

Viviennemary · 07/07/2021 15:43

No. Flora is fine. But not with belle.

@Reachersloveinterest

Flora was a nickname used for a girl who had a lot of boyfriends when I was at uni.

Flora, spreads easily. Sorry.

My mum apparently went to school with a girl called Flora who was very attractive. Some of the boys used to talk about wanting to get “Inter- Flora”. Angry

I think it’s such a beautiful name but that put me off completely.

Nooooo

Bimblybomeyelash · 07/07/2021 15:51

It’s a bit Dixie.

SleepingStandingUp · 07/07/2021 15:51

As an ardent fan of Ariella, Arabella etc I think Florabella is awful. I wouldn't pronounce it instinctively as Floor-a-bell but Floh-ra-bell

Flora is nice. Lots of lovely -bella names. But not together

whatausername · 07/07/2021 16:36

It feels bulbous.

Wbeezer · 07/07/2021 16:38

Honestly? Nice name for a Jersey cow, not for a human.

Gloschick · 07/07/2021 16:43

I don't like it. You could go for Fiorella which is an Italian name meaning little flower.

SleepingStandingUp · 07/07/2021 17:54

Fiorella is much nicer
