What's everyone's thought on the name Flora-belle or Florabelle?

Very naff.

Enko · 07/07/2021 08:48

I don't mind it prefer Florabelle have you considered the Italian Floriana?

KirstenBlest · 07/07/2021 10:25

Dora-Belle is better. Has a ring to it, don't you think?

emmathedilemma · 07/07/2021 11:24

Flora is lovely, as a middle name Belle is just about bearable but as one word or hyphenated they are awful.

HTH. Grin

PleasantBirthday · 07/07/2021 11:36

It would not be an easy name to live with after the tenth birthday, I think.

Vetyveriohohoh · 07/07/2021 11:37

Flora is lovely the rest not so much

GammyLeg · 07/07/2021 11:40

I generally like frilly names, but not this one.

It sounds like a nickname.
As a previous poster said, how about Flora, but you call her Florabelle as her nickname.

For example, my daughter is called Camilla, but if I'm singing to her I'll often call her Camiliana, as a pet name (since it kind-of rhymes with her brother's name).

ElizabethTudor · 07/07/2021 11:48

Flora (first name) Belle (middle name) absolutely fine
Florabelle - no, as PPs have said, it’s just too fussy
Flora-belle - definitely not.

Holly60 · 07/07/2021 11:50

I don’t like it I’m afraid, it sounds made up. Flora is quite pretty on its own though

PearlNextDoor · 07/07/2021 11:53

No, it does sound like an Aldi product!

I like Flora, and you could make it a baby nick name taken from a more elegant combination. I like Flora Christabel, Flora Mirabel.

But something about Florabelle doesn't work.

funnyoldonion · 07/07/2021 11:54

Margerine

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 07/07/2021 12:26

No it’s terrible. Sounds like you’re naming a cat.

It sounds like the sort of child that isn’t allowed to get grubby and sit nicely in her frilly dressed.

MouldyPotato · 07/07/2021 12:29

No, sounds like the name for a frilly doll or a poodle not a human.

BunnyRuddington · 07/07/2021 12:35

If you like it, use it but I much prefer it without hyphenation.

MaxiPaddy · 07/07/2021 12:37

Do people not realize they're naming a human being - a future adult - not a forever baby?

KirstenBlest · 07/07/2021 12:39

If you like Flora-belle, how about Baybie-belle?

VenusClapTrap · 07/07/2021 13:03

Flora is nice.

I second the suggestions of Christabel and Mirabel. I also know a Maribel which is ok.

MadeOfStarStuff · 07/07/2021 13:09

Far too twee either way but with the hyphen is worse

carolinesbaby · 07/07/2021 13:12

Flora was a nickname used for a girl who had a lot of boyfriends when I was at uni.

Flora, spreads easily. Sorry.
