Leo.

I think Ange flows better with your last name. Ange would be pronounced differently in the UK to France though if that matters.

girlmom21 · 06/07/2021 06:29

How is Ange pronounced?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/07/2021 06:31

Leo, but it depends on if you're planning to stay in France. I agree Ange flows better but I think I'd only use it if you're staying there permanently as it'll get mispronounced elsewhere.

Clickbait · 06/07/2021 06:33

Leo

AbsolutelyYes · 06/07/2021 06:33

None

Stygimoloch · 06/07/2021 06:35

Love Leo.

PattyPan · 06/07/2021 06:40

Leo 100%

RosesAndHellebores · 06/07/2021 06:50

I think it's one of those names that traditionally was a boys name but has been adopted more by girls in recent years?

I like it more than Leo but would be concerned (if you came to England for example) that there could be teasing due to the association with Angela/Angie. It makes me think of Angel Clare from Tess of the Durbervilles.

HasaDigaEebowai · 06/07/2021 06:51

I’m assuming Ange isn’t pronounced like the shortened version of Angie/Angela. People in the UK will think it is though.

PeonyTime · 06/07/2021 06:54

I assumed Ange was a girl, because of the Angela connection. How would you pronounce it?
Leo is a much more international name.

FingonTheValiant · 06/07/2021 06:55

There are Leo’s everywhere in France at the moment.

Ange is nice, but if he’s anything like the Séraphin I teach... it’s a hard name to live up to.

MoppaSprings · 06/07/2021 07:02

Is Ange a shortened version of Angelos so pronounced with the soft g sound

BillyIsMyBunny · 06/07/2021 07:23

I’ve never heard the name Ange, the name looks ugly and unfinished to me and I wouldn’t know how to pronounce it.

I would go with Leo.

Babyiskickingmyribs · 06/07/2021 07:56

If you need a name that works in English and French then Leo is better, but it’s true there are lots of little Leos around at the moment. Ange doesn’t work in English and he would be mistaken for a girl constantly.

Geamhradh · 06/07/2021 08:07

Ange definitely.
Leo is very overdone.

Dandy0911 · 06/07/2021 09:32

Ange for sure. Soooo many Leos!

FloconDeNeige · 06/07/2021 09:39

For those asking about pronunciation, it would be something like ‘Onj’.

I wouldn’t go with Ange. Everyone in the UK (assuming you have some UK-connection) will pronounce it like a shortened form of Angela and think the child is female!

Leo is nice but extremely common across Europe right now.

Luke0 · 06/07/2021 13:57

Pronunciation : Onj

I would like to thank the people who have responded so far :)

In conclusion : Your opinion it's better to give name Leo as Ange if we travel often ?

OP posts:
FingonTheValiant · 06/07/2021 14:09

Could you go for a variant of Leo? Léon or Léandre...for example?

HunkyPunk · 06/07/2021 14:17

I think Ange is lovely. Yes. it's a French name with a French pronunciation, but I think people should be able to cope, and if they can't, they should try harder! Why not have Ange Leo, so he has the choice?

Luke0 · 06/07/2021 14:19

No I think I stay with the name Leo.
We also think about the name Luca but if we choose Ange as first name we prefer the combination with Leo.
By the way my wife is Japanese so the baby will French Japanese :)

ILoveShula · 06/07/2021 14:19

Leo will travel better, Ange is quite a lot to live up to.

Luke0 · 06/07/2021 14:22

Hunky Punk you're right but we already think about it and it's weird to mixte both name so we have to choose which will be first name ? So we're little confuse..
