I am 7months pregnant and having a nightmare choosing a name! Me and my partner have narrowed it down to three names...my partner love Delilah however I feel it's a little bit twee? We also like Dulcie and Arabella...just wanted to get peoples feelings on these as having a baby shower Sunday and meant to be announcing a name and I haven't got a clue!
ThankyouSmile

Arabella is my fave but id wait until she's here and see what she looks like x

Marcipex · 28/06/2021 15:56

Dulcie is terribly twee.
I’ve never met a Delilah but it’s very cute. What about Dahlia? Lovely flower name.
Arabella is a bit of a mouthful. Annabel is nicer.

Breadandbutterpudding85 · 28/06/2021 15:58

Delilah is lovely

What about Daphne or Delphine

pinkbeans16 · 28/06/2021 16:00

@Marcipex

Dulcie is terribly twee. I’ve never met a Delilah but it’s very cute. What about Dahlia? Lovely flower name. Arabella is a bit of a mouthful. Annabel is nicer.
Yes I did consider Dahlia it was on my partners list a little while ago!

Those are all pretty names, maybe wait to see what the baby looks like then make a call then?

My second is arriving next week and we think we're going for Phoebe, unless she looks particularly un-Phoebe-like! We also have a neighbour called Marnie and I think that's sweet.

Mummyme87 · 28/06/2021 16:06

Hate Arabella, really makes me think of someone very pretentious and unpleasant.
Also Dulcie…. It’s okay but not a pretty name.
Delilah out of all those. What about Delia?

ApplesandBananas21 · 28/06/2021 16:06

I love them all!
We couldn't decide and waited until he was born and its rather quick how much you realise what name to pick!

TatianaBis · 28/06/2021 16:08

Love Delilah, much nicer & more interesting than Dulcie (meh) or Arabella - 1000s

EssentialHummus · 28/06/2021 16:10

Annabel? Delia? For your own sake please don’t announce the name until she turns up.

mathanxiety · 28/06/2021 16:16

I'm with your DH on this one.

Dulcie is very twee, and Arabella is very horsey.

Delilah is far nicer imo.

Christmasbird · 28/06/2021 16:18

Lila instead of Delilah?

NewlyGranny · 28/06/2021 16:20

Who says you're meant to be announcing it at the baby shower? Announce it when you feel like it after you've decided. And I wouldn't be sharing the list of possibles with people at the party, either, as everyone will have an opinion and some of them might be negative and upsetting. Much nicer to announce the name when you ontroduce DD after she's born. Nobody is likely to argue with the named child in front of them whether irl or as a photo. It's clearly rude to say "You've called her what?! Why?!" once the choice is made but people will always try to dissuade you beforehand.

NigellaSeed · 28/06/2021 16:53

Delilah. It's classic but not frumpy. Arabella is pretty but I think it's going to be popular. Don't like the third one, sorry

starfire88 · 28/06/2021 17:03

Honestly, I like all three names. If I had to choose just one, I would choose Arabella, with Delilah being a close second.

However, I have a very close friend with a 4 year old named Delilah. It suits her very well. She usually goes by Lilah for short.

Dahlia is also a great alternative. It's familiar sounding but not high up on the name charts.

Palmatree · 28/06/2021 17:07

Delilah is the best of the three, though prefer Lyla / Lila. What about Daphne - beautiful name? Or Lyra? Leila?

Dulcie isn't very nice - sounds very old fashioned to me and I dislike the 'dull' beginning.

Arabella sounds really posh and horsey to me. I much prefer Annabel or Ariadne.

Also, please don't announce the name at your baby shower. No one will expect you to and you're bound to change your mind. Wait and see what she looks like and how you feel. There's no rush. Good luck.

ILoveShula · 28/06/2021 18:34

Delilah is dreadful.
Not keen on Dulcie makes me think of dull and seaweed
Arabella is too long

Pinkypink · 28/06/2021 21:16

Like Delilah
Love Dulcie

Darcy
Cosima
Love Phoebe as pp have mentioned
Prefer Annabel to Arabella
Also love Gabriella

Pinkypink · 28/06/2021 21:18

Also don't feel you have to announce it before she arrives.
Who cares if people are waiting to hear. Much better off telling them when you've met her and made your mind up

stellarfox · 28/06/2021 22:14

Don’t rush it! You might regret it. Wait until she’s here to decide. All nice names. You might like Darcy/Darcie too

VenusClapTrap · 29/06/2021 21:26

I quite like Dulcie. Not keen on Delilah and really don’t like Arabella, which is too long and fussy for me.

Much prefer Dalia or Delia. How about Dinah? Love that.

Whatever you do, don’t announce it at your baby shower. Terrible idea. Wait until she’s here.

Happenchance · 29/06/2021 22:25

Delilah is nice. I don't like the other two.

How about:
Adelia
Estella
Aubrey
Darcy
Marcella

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/06/2021 22:31

Of those three, Arabella feels the most classic to me (at least it is historically in Scotland). Dulcie is a bit "cute" and while Delilah has a lovely sound, it's quite trendy now.

Orangemochafrappacino · 30/06/2021 08:27

Delilah nn Lila is lovely Smile

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/06/2021 08:31

Not Delilah. I'm reminded of the Tom Jones song.

pinkbeans16 · 10/08/2021 09:16

I'm 8 months pregnant and would really love a name decided! Struggling between:
Delilah
Flora
Dulcie
