Recently I love Imogen but a friend of mine told me she thinks it's a little 'posh and dull'.

I really like it.

Don't run baby names past anyone other than your partner unless you don't care about the negative comments - every name you come up with will get poopooed by someone!

Fumnudge · 24/06/2021 23:40

I adore the name. Ran it by my friends, one liked, one hated, can't please all of the people.... I stopped running names by anyone except DH.

cariadlet · 24/06/2021 23:50

I think it's lovely.

This.

I think it's lovely. My children though both have classic names and I guess some people would think they're dull as they're not really out there.

hawkehurstgang · 25/06/2021 00:01

Thank you for the replies! I think you're right about not telling anyone early, someone's always got something negative to say about any name! Do you think Imogen goes it go well with Reuben, my son's name?

I really like it, a good child and adult name.

Puppysharness · 25/06/2021 00:07

Love it and would use it if my partner would let me!

thatsnotgoingtowork2 · 25/06/2021 00:13

If Imogen is dull, what would interesting look like?

Claire is dull.

I love Imogen but I'll never get over that episode of One Born where the gormless father was reading a baby names book and read 'Immodium' instead...but every name can be spoilt in that way.

It does go with Reuben but you must have a very versatile surname to go with both in terms of rhythm.

MissingTheMoonlight · 25/06/2021 00:15

Gorgeous name and the two names go really nicely together

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/06/2021 00:20

Imogen is one of my favourite names. I am a teacher and all those I have taught have been lovely! Some have the nickname Immy which is also lovely.

SallyOMalley · 25/06/2021 00:25

Our imogen is feisty, strong-willed and independent. Not dull at all!

At home, she's our Midge (but Immy at school ).

Kanaloa · 25/06/2021 00:29

It’s a nice name. I actually prefer more classic names and think names like Rueben or Imogen are a lot nicer than more out there names which.

Lalliella · 25/06/2021 00:47

Not at all dull. I would’ve chosen it if DH hadn’t been an idiot! It’s really pretty.

Doona · 25/06/2021 00:53

It's okay but my kids all have multiple imogens in their classes at school, so I've heard the name too much in the past few years tbh. I might just live in an imogen bubble though.

adeleh · 25/06/2021 01:05

I really love the name Imogen - it's not dull at all. And I think it goes really well with Reuben. They are both gorgeous names.

Immy is really sweet for a little girl, and Imogen is such a beautiful, dignified name for an adult.

fixyourgardengate · 25/06/2021 01:43

I have an Imogen. She's nearly 8 and her current bff is an Isabel so they are Immy and Izzy Grin

Lovely combo with Reuben.

Mine is the only one in a year of 60 kids!
AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying · 25/06/2021 07:45

I don't like it.
But if you do then go for it.

What else do you like op?

FindingMeno · 25/06/2021 07:47

No it's beautiful.
One of my favourite names.

Hippohappiness · 25/06/2021 08:00

Beautiful name and currently top of my list. It seems like a bit of a marmite name, so doubt it will ever be super popular. It's currently dropping in the charts. I like it's Shakespearean and Celtic links. It's a pretty name without being too frilly or cutesy, like a lot of popular names at the moment. It feels quite timeless to me and will suit all ages.

TatianaBis · 25/06/2021 08:05

No, love it.

What kind of names does your friend like?

Notgotanyidea · 25/06/2021 08:07

It’s a beautiful name. It is quite popular. Along with Matilda it’s the most popular name at our primary school. It’s popular for a good reason.

Amdone123 · 25/06/2021 08:10

I love Imogen. It's got the same vibe as Felicity which I also love.
It goes great with Reuben.

GryffsMum · 25/06/2021 08:12

We've got an Imogen and we call her Mim. I really suits her!
