If you had to change your name (not to anything silly like Profiterolina) what first name would you go for?

Charlotte or Sasha.

I love Sophie. But can't pronounce 'ph' correctly so it was a no for the name change when I seriously considered it at 18 and also as a name for my daughter.

My married name is similar to da silva but much longer. Its a right pain in the arse, especially with a 4 syllable first name. Even my husband uses my maiden name in restaurants etc as he can't be bothered to spell it out yet again.

I like my real name though, as it's fairly unusual. One person above has mentioned it would be their choice.

I was born Susan with a really horrible middle name that to my horror is now fashionable but was the source of much bullying as it was the name of our prime minister. My parents always called me Sue and still do. I cannot remember a time when I didn’t hate it and I never, ever referred to myself as Sue. I changed my first and middle names completely by deed poll when I was 18 and now I’ve been my new name for longer than I was ever my old name. It is still a source of some contention in so much as I still ask my mum why on earth did she give me such a boring, common name then compound it by shortening it to Sue and insisting on using it when I hated it and never used that shortening. She admitted recently she didn’t like it either much and had actually wanted to call me Helena!!

So I'm trans so actually did choose Tristan for myself but... if I had to choose another name I think I'd like to be Jasper (close first to Will or Phineas)

Maeby would work for me actually, Maeby I'll remember things or Maybe I won't, Maeby I'll be organised one day... Maeby, Maeby, Maeby.

I wouldn't change my name, which I like, but lately I've been thinking of developing an alter ego a really loud, fearless, bogan ocker who can pop out at challenging moments and do all the yelling talking for me. I might call her Beryl or Bev. Bad-arse Bev. The sort who can barge into a scrum of boofheads, bellow "G'day fellas, har ya goan?'' and head off any misogyny they were about to commit.

I'm happy with my name but if I were choosing another then I'd probably go for something like Clara or maybe Zoe.

I would like to be Kate. I love the timeless simplicity of it.

I should have been Charlotte but it was vetoed. I love that name, but I'll stick with mine. Interested two people have said they want my name in this very unscientific survey

I'd like to be a Perdita, or an Emerald, or maybe even an Arabella. Much Jilly Cooper influence:) I am most certainly none of these.

I've always loved the name Amelia, I wanted to call my daughter it but someone in the family used it and then it became really popular.

I always liked the name Zoe when I was at school, so probably that or the name Katie.

Though I went to school with a Charlene and I really liked her name too. Used to think wow I really wish I had that name, no idea why lol

I always wanted to be called Natalia. I have an ID and a bank account in that name.
