Axel or Maximilian

My ds is called Jenson (which is Scandinavian). My dd is called Roxanna.

We like the name Maximilian and were set on this for baby 3 if a boy.

However, I keep coming back to Axel (also Scandinavian). My husband really likes it too.

Which would you choose?

Definitely Maximillian. Axel I'd assume you were a huge Axel Rose fan.

Maximilian is a wonderful name.

Love them both anyone who's a guns and Rose's fan is over 40 (like me) his peers at school wont know.

Axel. There are so many Max's around itl make a nice change. I think it goes better with Jenson too

I prefer Axel, it's a lovely name and makes me think of The Middle, he was one of my favourite characters.

Maximilian. Axel makes me think of wheels.

I think Maximilian is a bit much for every day use and Max is nice but a bit overused at the moment.

I like Axel. It has an edgy vibe that appeals to me. His little peers will prob think 'oh like the man who draws The Gruffalo'.

(Just kidding. Of the 2 I prefer Max but that's probably because I know a Max and he is adorable)

Oh good lord, they’re both fantastic! I’d only choose Maximilian if I knew I’d be using the whole name - it’s too good to shorten to Max. Axel is very cool. I don’t think of Axel Rose, and neither will his peers. Think I slightly prefer Axel.

Mr Rose spells his name as Axl. A small but significant difference. He's really a William!

Axel just makes me think of axle but I suppose if you or your dh are Scandinavian or of Scandinavian heritage then it must seem like a traditional, standard choice and I'd be less wtf if I knew the link.

Really dislike Maximilian but I do like Max.

I think Axel is a classic scandi name whereas Maximilian gives me French vibes. And would you end up using max which is more common?

I wouldn't have a clue who Axl rose is... so definitely not naming my child after oral sex 🤣

There doesn't seem to be a huge influx of Children named max in our area.

Any suggestions for girls names.
We quite like Aria but not 100%, really struggling with girls names- we don't like old fashioned or anything too unusual.

I really like both of your choices although for everyday use I prefer the shorter version of maximilian.

Every other boy is called Max, along with lots of dogs.

I considered Axel for my DS. It's a great name.

I think Maximilian will end up being Max or Maxi, rather than the whole name. They are also nice IMO but if you want the whole name being used then you might end up disappointed.

I'll be honest, I read the title and thought they were both really awful names, then read your OP and thought actually they are both really awesome, especially with your other DC names.
