That's all really. Middle name will probably be Maria..not that it matters much. Surname is 1 syllable.

I don't like Sunny and would immediately think of the boys name, Sonny.
Lindy reminds me of Lindy Hop.
I don't mind Linda but it does make me think of an older woman.
What about Belinda or Melinda with the nickname Lindy?

MaMelon · 10/06/2021 13:42

Lindsay (or any of the spellings)?

Linette/Lynette?

iminthegarden · 10/06/2021 13:47

Neither

GiantToadstool · 10/06/2021 13:52

I think too of Sunny in Unforgotten who gathered quite a cult following! I really would avoid Sunny for a girl.

(Ps I really want your surname to be Hop...)

SoapboxFox · 10/06/2021 13:53

Sunday, Lindsay, Annie, Indira nn Indie?

lots33 · 10/06/2021 13:56

Belinda with Lindy as a nn? Then she has a fall back option or could choose Belle as a teenager if she prefers it.

LadyBugg · 10/06/2021 14:03

I like Lindy. I've not heard it before as a stand alone name, I think it's a refreshing and cheery name, stick with it if it's your favourite. Don't lengthen it if Lindy is the name you like.

Crockof · 10/06/2021 14:06

When I first read Lindy I wasn't keen but reading it on here on all the posts it has really grown on me, I think you should use it, when baby is here it will become their name.

StyleAndLasers · 10/06/2021 14:08

I like Lindy and I am not usually one for "nicknames as names". Maybe because I also have a relative called Lindy in her 70s. I am not sure if she is named Lindy or if it is short for Lindsay or Linda.
I am not keen on Sunny, it makes me think Sunny Delight, or Sonny. Also it's a lot to live up to. What if little Sunny is a crosspatch? I know a Serenity who is anything but serene.

Ogwen · 10/06/2021 14:08

My evil stepmother was called Linda. I knew a beautiful, kind, charming woman called Lindy when I was at university.
So I much prefer Lindy, but for reasons that are obviously specific to me.

I would assume Sunny was a boy.

NamiSwan · 10/06/2021 14:10

Lindy is better than Sunny, which is too similar to the boys name Sonny. But it does sound a little too informal as a full name. It also makes me think of the clothing brand Lindy Bop, sorry!

I know a Linda who is actually "Rosalinda", so that might be an option if you want Lindy as a nickname.

YesToThis · 10/06/2021 14:10

I think Lindy is okay - also like Lintie which I've come across in Scotland. Not sure if it's short for something

Bluedelphinium · 10/06/2021 14:11

Linda is pretty cool and due a resurgence in maybe 10 years or so. I associate Lindy with a really warm, cheerful lady I used to work with.

withiceplease · 10/06/2021 14:17

I really like Lindy
I wish I'd have called one of mine Joni but DH was set against it and I still regret it 20 years later

ElaineMarieBenes · 10/06/2021 14:42

Believe me Lindy will be called Lindy Loo - please don’t!

Marcipex · 10/06/2021 14:46

I absolutely love Lindy. Not so keen on Linda.
How about Lindis? I used to know a nice Lindis.

Sunny is awful, sorry, and sounds exactly like the dreadful Sonny that people are using for boys.

Elouera · 10/06/2021 14:47

@Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow

It's not ' sunny jim' , it is Sonny Jim. Like when men call younger men ' son'

I think they're both awful sorry.

augustusglupe · 10/06/2021 14:51

First thing I thought of was the connection to Lindy Chamberlain…so no.
Also don’t like Sonny for a girl.

NanaNorasNaughtyKnickers · 10/06/2021 14:54

Twins called Sunny and Windy could work 🤔

Gmmllw · 10/06/2021 14:55

It's rare that I have any feelings about a name. But both of these I really dislike.

Seriouslymole · 10/06/2021 14:57

Rosalind? I love Lindy but feel it needs a “proper” name to link to for some inexplicable reason.

Sunny - nope.

Abracadabra12345 · 10/06/2021 14:58

@Crockof

Me too. The more I say it, the more I like it
Abracadabra12345 · 10/06/2021 15:00

@ElaineMarieBenes

Believe me Lindy will be called Lindy Loo - please don’t!
A little girl we know is called Lucy and is always being called Lucy Loo. It’s an endearment
KirstenBlest · 10/06/2021 15:11

Lindy short for Linda

FrumpyBetty · 10/06/2021 15:13

I know a Lindy in her 20's. She is a wonderful human and I think its a great name.

Go with what you love.
