What do you think of Bambi for a girls name?

OP posts:

No

SionnachRua · 06/06/2021 23:57

Pretty nickname but not suited to everyone. That's why it shouldn't move past nickname territory.

PixieDust28 · 06/06/2021 23:58

Bambina is Italian for little girl, no?

It just reminds me of when people say 'ah, my little bambino'.

There are beautiful Italian girls names but Bambi isn't one of them. Would you want your child's name to mean 'little girl'.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/06/2021 23:59

@shuz1980

Bambi is an Italian girls name that means baby girl. Thanks for all the feedback though.
Are you 8n the UK? If so more people will be aware of the boy deer with the dead Mom. Also why would you want a teenager or adult essentially called "baby girl"
midsomermurderess · 07/06/2021 00:01

Hello bambinos comes to mind.

Torvean · 07/06/2021 00:03

Don't do it. She will be bullied in school. Then imagine filling out job applications when she's older?

Gooseysgirl · 07/06/2021 00:04

No way

hazandduck · 07/06/2021 00:05

@QueSeraSarah 🤣 Bambi goes crazy ape bonkers with his drill and sex!

OP, going against the grain. I love it. My friend very nearly used it, Nala was also on her list. She did end up calling her Bambi as a nickname and it suits her so much; beautiful green eyes, dark hair and skin, a gorgeous child.

AnotherSunrise · 07/06/2021 11:09

No way! 😆

junemoon01 · 07/06/2021 11:23

No. What if she has a limp or wants to be a Dr?

antsy · 07/06/2021 12:11

I would always avoid baby names that conjure up a certain physical appearance. It is sod's law that a child would look nothing like their name.
It would be like calling a boy Rambo.

RuthW · 07/06/2021 12:15

Just no.

WaterBottle123 · 07/06/2021 12:30

Pls give your daughter a strong, empowering name, not one that reminds ppl of baby deers and strippers.

JulesM73 · 07/06/2021 12:33

Just no, that is a terrible name for a baby and one which will be even worse on an adult.

grapewine · 07/06/2021 12:35

You definitely run the risk of people not taking her seriously. I'd not saddle a kid with that name. Girls grow up to be women. It's not cute for an adult woman.

roadwarrior · 07/06/2021 13:06

Please don't call her Bambi, there are so many other beautiful Italian names that don't carry so much baggage.

miltonj · 07/06/2021 16:19

It's gorgeous, very cute. But living in England I probably wouldn't x

CirqueDeMorgue · 07/06/2021 16:20

@CandyLeBonBon

Bambi was a boy and his mum died.
This is a great synopsis 🤣
IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 07/06/2021 16:23

That's not what a baby girl is called in Italy though.

Please don't do it, it's awful.

Randomo · 07/06/2021 16:26

I now understand why some countries have an approved names list

mewkins · 07/06/2021 16:28

A distant relative of mine is called this. She is in her 70s now. A lifetime of amusement Grin

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2021 17:49

@shuz1980, did you get the name Bambi from an online Italian baby names list or do you know italian women called Bambi? Baby name sites ofyen have dodgy entries

Bambi y Lola is a spanish company and was named after the founder''s dogs.if that's where you got it. Not sure if the dogs were/are female.

So it is maybe a girl's name and definitely a male baby deer's name and a dog's name.

3CCC · 07/06/2021 18:03

@roadwarrior

Please don't call her Bambi, there are so many other beautiful Italian names that don't carry so much baggage.
I read that as Bambi is an Italian baggage/ luggage company

Other suggestions could be Samsonite, Kipling, Etc

Topseyt · 07/06/2021 18:16

Dreadful. No!

VenusClapTrap · 07/06/2021 18:40

One of the women murdered at White House Farm was nicknamed Bambi. Another negative association.
