Thoughts?

DH likes it but thinks it's too close to willy and she will get bullied!

I'm not keen. I thought Willy before I opened the thread but that's to do with how people where I live say Willy!
But if you like it, name her it... people get use to things and won't think twice x

partyatthepalace · 30/05/2021 19:01

I think he might be right, also it’s a bit nothing-y.

Any other options??

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 30/05/2021 19:01

I love it!!!!

alexdgr8 · 30/05/2021 19:03

no. not in england anyway.
i know there was willa cather, but that's a bit of a stretch.
follow hubby on this one. pick another.

KingPong · 30/05/2021 19:04

I work with children, she absolutely will be called Willy at school.
They think that sort of thing is hilarious, one of them spotted a Dick King-Smith book on the shelf the other week and thought it was the rudest, funniest thing ever.

Callingallskeletons · 30/05/2021 19:04

Could you go for Willow instead OP?

MadMadMadamMim · 30/05/2021 19:05

Willow would be ok. Not Willa.

Absolutely to close to Willy.

TheMotherlode · 30/05/2021 19:06

Sounds like Willy in a Scottish accent.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 30/05/2021 19:07

I don’t like it at all, really wishy washy, and yes sounds like Willy.

ChoccyLatte · 30/05/2021 19:07

Oh dear no... it's too much like Willy

Jizzonmy · 30/05/2021 19:09

Nooo

GiveTheGirlAGun · 30/05/2021 19:14

My first thought was Howie's bratty little sister from the Ramona books. My second thought was my mother pronouncing Willow in her lancs accent. I suspect to a pre teen boy it would be sounds like willy and would turn into Dick. Her high school years would be hard, depending where she was sent.

Amelia666 · 30/05/2021 19:19

Willy

DramaAlpaca · 30/05/2021 19:38

It's awful, sorry.

SunflowerOwl · 30/05/2021 19:40

Well that's pretty unanimous Grin

Twizbe · 30/05/2021 19:57

I always think of Willa Claudia from carry on cleo

caramelloo · 30/05/2021 19:58

I love it.

Serpenta · 30/05/2021 20:02

Always reminds me of willy, and yes that makes me sound like a 12 year old boy.

Serpenta · 30/05/2021 20:03

Seems popular in America but they don't have the willy/penis thing so none of that association.

HeronLanyon · 30/05/2021 20:04

I think of will Cather excellent Nebraskan author.
Have never known a Willa and i sure ce ever we’d it other than Cather.
Will it be misheard as willow i wonder ?

CornedBeef451 · 30/05/2021 20:05

I like it but it does make me think of Game of Thrones

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 30/05/2021 20:06

I thought Willy or someone mispronouncing Willow.

Sidesaladofchips · 30/05/2021 20:07

No. Willow is better, though still has potential for big willy style teasing tbh
