DH likes it but thinks it's too close to willy and she will get bullied!

I do think Willow might be a safer choice.

Although in our Scottish accent it doesn't sound like Willy.

I think it's a lovely name. I think immediately of Willa Cather - My Antonia is one of my favourite books - and I'm surprised by all these people who haven't heard of her.
I wouldn't let the fact that so many people aren't very well-read put you off.

Willa Cather is a mere ter short of a double genitalia based named, fabulous author or not.

Willa is lovely. Not close to Willy at all. Billy og Milly are closer to willy 😄

First thought is a willy too. How about Willow? Much prettier and more feminine sounding, and much less genital offensive.
