What do you think of the name Jasper for a girl?

No, its a dog's name

Awful for a girl, awful for a boy ( conjures up ideas of a Lord Snooty type fop). Like PP said, it's a dog's name.

Partner really likes it for a girl. I hate it for a boy, but maybe hormones are messing with my judgement because it's growing on me for a girl.

I like Jasper for a boy but not a girl. Looking at the stats, it's not been recorded for use for a girl in England and Wales, so it's very much a boys name, rather than unisex.

I quite like it for a boy. To choose a traditionally boys name for a girl seems like bit of a random American celebrity type thing to do but each to their own. It’s not the worst idea in the world but it just makes me question why, when there’s so many amazing girls names to choose from.

I don't like the name for a boy or girl but I also think you should call your child whatever you wish.

If you told me your child was named Jasper it wouldn't cross my mind that Jasper might be a girl. I don't think it's unisex at all

It's a boys name. For a similar sound, how about Vesper which is unisex, I believe, but more often used for girls. Does sound like Vespa (eg Piaggio) though.

Or if you like Jasper because it's a semi-precious stone how about Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Pearl, Topaz or Beryl.

Topaz is great. I used to know a Topaz.

I think the nickname for wasps is because it sometimes comes in yellow and black tones
