Uncommon boy names you love

Hi, I recently found out I'm having a boy and I'd like a name that's short and cute. Ideally I would like a name that isn't very popular and a little unheard of...but I know this is a challenge in itself. I would like to match my girl name Gia.

The names I have so far...
Hari
Charlie
Avi

Suggestions welcome! Thanks.

@EssentialHummus

dogs it was very much a female name in the Greek myth too. No idea how/if it’s used in Greek today. I think it has masculine connotations because it ends with “o” and because, sadly, we think of a hero like a superhero being male, I don’t think that reflects the origin of the name.
In Greek we use sexes for all words. So the sun is male, the earth is female etc. In the case of hero the article is male. It's not commonly used as a name but when it is used it is for a boy. I was only making the point that it is not solely female or male but can be used for both sexes.

My ds ( a teen ) is “Seth”, he’s been the only one in primary school of 600 pupils and now only one in senior of 1300 pupils … if this helps :-)

Sexnotgender · 27/05/2021 21:15

My toddler is Francis, not very common!

My son's name is Westley, nn Wes. It's had a very positive reception and while we haven't met any others with his name, people have generally heard it and it's easy to spell.

Serpenta · 27/05/2021 21:43

Are you a fan of The Princess Bride, @MooseBreath?

Slayduggee · 27/05/2021 21:46

Arti

I also know an Atticus known as Atti

OddshoesOddsocks · 27/05/2021 22:01

@Slayduggee I came on to say Atticus! I never got my boy but Atticus was at the top of my list every time along with Cassius. I think they will be cats one day...

OP, I was told on a thread once that everyone is trying so hard to be unusual and unique that the ‘common names’ have become more unusual. If you want an unusual name then pick Jack or Daniel or something because all the kids are called Agamemnon and Ulysses.
I didn’t like being told that at the time but actually I think there’s an element of truth in it. In DD’s school of 100 there’s 3 boys called Elias (which id never heard before, even after extensive baby name research!) and 2 Franks in DD2s class (and she’s a Frankie just to add to the confusion!) without a Jack, Daniel or Thomas in sight! Dd3 has a very uncommon name, I’ve never met another under the age of 80 and a month before she was born one moved in across the road and they’ll be in the same class!! So try not to worry too much about finding a unique name, unless you make one up yourself there’s always a chance that there will be one in the vicinity!

To me, AVI is a computer file name extension,

so on that basis you could also consider;
Jpeg
Mpeg (for a girl)
Pdf
Doc (probably not - may be associated with one of the seven dwarves)
Exe
Odt

there are loads more!

Every second boy round here has been called Charlie ever since that poor wee sick boy Charlie passed away (had a fan group called Charlie’s army for some reason).
