Jacob Felix Edward

I named my son Felix Edward, however it took a while to decide. I still doubt (after weeks) if I shouldn't have taken Jacob instead of Felix. I'm 100% sure about Edward. My family loves the name Felix, so just thought about adding Jacob instead of replacing it.

I think Felix is great. Jacob is completely fine, but between the two I would choose Felix every time.

NuffSaidSam · 08/05/2021 21:25

I personally like Jacob best, but they're both perfectly good names so just go with your gut.

Maybe imagine yelling it across the park? Or imagine a teacher coming out of school to tell you that 'Felix has been messing around in the library again' or 'Jacob has been very chatty today'. Which one feels right?!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 08/05/2021 21:31

In case it hasn't occurred to you, people will assume you are a massive "twilight" fan if you give the middle names Jacob Edward.

Not that there's anything wrong with that! Grin

Platypus310 · 08/05/2021 21:38

I tried to imagine which name I'd call him in different situations, sometimes I imagine Felix, sometimes Jacob.
I know about Twilight, which is a minus for Jacob, then I think Felix in the middle might reduce the Association. Felix on the other hand might be associated with the cat food.

Both Jacob and Edward together scream Twilight to me as well. Jacob Felix Surname could be better?

GaryLebron · 08/05/2021 21:44

I personally like the name Jacob. If I have a child I will call him by this name

Scubalubs87 · 08/05/2021 21:46

A friend's little boy is called Felix. At first I was a bitHmm but now it just suits him absolutely perfectly. Couldn't imagine him being called anything else. There's a Felix In the school I teach and it suits him fantastically too. I like Jacob but there are a lot more Jacobs around.

Platypus310 · 08/05/2021 21:47

Edward needs to be included in his name. Thought about James instead of Jacob.

I think Jacob Felix Edward sound good together and I didn't even think of Twilight till I saw it mentioned.
Twilight will be long forgotten about once he's at senior school and most people don't know your middle names anyway.

DotDotDotDotDot · 08/05/2021 22:19

Felix and Jacob are both great whichever combination you decide to go with. Although Jacob could get shortened to Jake or Jay at school which I dislike so that might put me off using Jacob as a first name. Good luck deciding.

RuthW · 08/05/2021 22:35

Felix is lovely. I think Jacob is a bit dated now

Tillygetsit · 08/05/2021 22:36

I love Felix and the meaning of the name. Maybe keep Jacob (which is another great name) in reserve incase you have another son one day?

MySocalledLoaf · 08/05/2021 22:42

I wouldn’t use both Felix and Jacob if there’s any chance you might have another son. In that case keep one in case there’s a chance to use it. Both names are lovely, I don’t know how you choose between them.

Platypus310 · 08/05/2021 23:21

I won't have another child. Maybe that's why it's so hard.

Felix is lovely. Jacob is nice enough but nowhere near as lovely as Felix.

I have a little baby Felix so I am bias but think it’s a much better name than Jacob and since having him I have had so many compliments on it!

Serpenta · 09/05/2021 05:13

Personally I think Jacob is a better name than Felix but the best thing to do is to take a couple of weeks to try his name out and give yourself time to think. You have loads of time to change it , if that feels right.

Violetlavenders · 09/05/2021 07:53

I prefer Jacob.

Jacob Felix Edward Surname

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 09/05/2021 08:03

Felix every time for me. I love the meaning. There are a lot of school-age Jacobs around, OP. I teach a year 8 class with four of them.

Flymetothestars · 09/05/2021 08:19

I love both
It seems like you're overthinking
You clearly like Felix so why create an issue when there isn't one
You can't be that set on Jacob if you're now suggesting James rather than Jacob
Just stick with Felix and give yourself something else to focus on

Blowingagale · 09/05/2021 08:36

Both fine names. If you are bothered bear in mind that the original name will always be on the main register. Original name with the amendment on full certificate, but short form will only be new name.

partyatthepalace · 09/05/2021 08:43

I prefer Jacob to Felix but they are both nice names. Try a week using each then you should know.

Good idea just to stick on front if you do. I really wouldn’t worry c Twilight though, Jacob and Edward are used an awful lot.

Hazel444 · 09/05/2021 09:16

Felix is a great name. It's a big responsibility choosing a name for another human, but I think you've made a good choice :)
