@AJB3001

Definitely Harry...that's my sons name...I didn't like it whilst pregnant and truthfully if I could I would change it now. I told my husband he could name him whilst I was under the influence of diamorphine and just being grateful I wasn't dead 🤣 ...he was born the day before Harry and meghans wedding as well 🙄🙄🙄
I have a Harry too and whilst I can’t and couldn’t think of another name for him, I do wish I could change it sometimes although he hasn’t actually come across another Harry at any groups or in his class. There’s one a few years below at his school though. My other child’s name hasn’t appeared on anyone’s list here.

@TheSongOfTheSea

Jasmine Emily Anything-Mae Lilly-anything Old man/woman names like Frank or Ethel.
Don't choose something popular or old fashioned either 😂

I loved Sophia & Isla when pregnant with my DS, but I didn't realise it was so popular. By the time I had my second and she was a DD I'd been to baby classes I realised and choose a Granny name.

My DS has an unusual name.

This thread is making me smile- I used to get teased about my name being ‘weird’ when I was young (1980’s) and now it’s so common that it’s listed as a boring name! So you really can’t win Grin

Jupiterstar · 05/05/2021 09:53

Names I heard a lot of seem to be Alfie, Arlo, Finley, Oliver, Jack, Harry, Theo, Evie, Isla, Ava, Amelia, Mia, Olivia

They’re all nice names though!

The problem is that all parents suddenly choose the same names, hence perfectly nice or even unusual names become overused and dull.

EekThreek · 05/05/2021 23:00

blueberry I can sympathise! One of my oldest friends was an Amelia growing up in the 80s, she was only one I knew until I met a baby one when I had DD1 - now it's #2 in the chart and I know of half a dozen others.

By contrast I'm an 80s Katy - named after my grandmother, but Katie was a top 20 name and I've rarely been the only one in a group of friends. Weirdly though, in my (large) company there are two Katie's, and about 8 Katy's, it's refreshing to be the default spelling for once Grin (still get called Kathy though...)

30 years ago, my name would have been mentioned in every other post on this thread Grin

Cressie2 · 06/05/2021 09:12

Argo, Sophia, Wilf, Isla, Lily, Thea, Noah, Kit and Archie

Cressie2 · 06/05/2021 09:13

I meant Arlo!

Pyewackect · 06/05/2021 09:15

Harry

KindnessCrusader · 06/05/2021 09:19

Not bored but I think unimaginative:

Emily
Isabel
Lily

I remember a mother calling 'Lily' at a toddler group and the room falling largely quiet and 6 little heads whipping up. We live in a tiny village so it was so noticeable. It's so bizarre that people couldn't think of another name!

KindnessCrusader · 06/05/2021 09:36

@AliceMcK I absolutely agree!

Saltandshake82 · 06/05/2021 14:55

Isla, Ava, Alfie, Teddy, Sophia, Evie, Jack, Mia

MadeOfStarStuff · 06/05/2021 20:37

I don’t think I’ve ever had a group of brownies without at least one Isabelle/Isabella, usually two or three, but it’s a really lovely name so I’m not bored of it

MumofPsuedoAdult · 06/05/2021 20:43

I. Am. AMAZED!! I got all the way to page 6 and not one person said 'Joshua'. Maybe it's just me who's sick to the back teeth of it (because I feel like I shout it all day) Blush

Violetlavenders · 06/05/2021 22:18

Harry Jack Theo Oliver Ellie Evie Izzy Sophie

I like the name Jude but all I can think of is Jude the Obscure. One of the most tragic novels ever written.
Heatingsystemwoes · 08/05/2021 07:33

Arlo definitely! It’s the new ‘Tyler’.
Absolutely everywhere.

I guess the reason they are so popular is because they are nice names.

It must be where you are from though because some of the ones mentioned surprised me as I don't know any or many at all with those names, Finley for example, I think I know one. And that's a friend of a friends child, certainly doesn't seem over used round here. Ottilie? Never heard it.
