We are naming our DS Noah, but we have always loved Thatcher, but we both agreed it's a bit out there and I just wondered what you would have chosen?

Noah or Thatcher? Older DS is Jude.

Noah. Thatcher just reminds me of Margaret.

MrsBertBibby · 03/05/2021 08:15

Noah. Thatcher is really not a pleasant name, even without the Maggie baggage.

milinhas · 03/05/2021 08:15

Yeah definitely Noah. If you’re not American I’d assume you were very into Margaret Thatcher.

TheQueef · 03/05/2021 08:17

Are you UK?
Thatcher is still very emotive in some parts.

ShinyGreenElephant · 03/05/2021 08:17

Thatcher is awful, sorry. It will make everyone think of Margaret Thatcher and shes absolutely despised by so many people. Imagine he wanted to live in Liverpool as an adult?

UpAt5amAgain · 03/05/2021 08:17

Noah.

I rather like a surnamey name as a general style but I'm not keen on Thatcher or the associations.

Thatswatshesaid · 03/05/2021 08:21

Noah.
Although I like the idea of referring to thatcher as a milk snatcher. He’s get a lot of comments if he lives/moves up north.

Teeshirt · 03/05/2021 08:21

Out of those, Noah. You can’t call your DC Thatcher, whatever your politics. It’s not fair on your child. Fletcher is a similar name.

LemonRoses · 03/05/2021 08:22

Not Thatcher, for the love of God and the wee donkey. He’d be called Snatcher or milky all his life.

Cocopogo · 03/05/2021 08:22

Thatcher is awful. As others have said it’s very emotive.

SwanShaped · 03/05/2021 08:22

Not Thatcher due to Margaret.

BilboBercow · 03/05/2021 08:24

You'd be as well calling him Stalin

AuntieStella · 03/05/2021 08:24

Thatcher will be nicknamed Maggie, whether you like it or not.

(It's also a cheap cider, so you know already what the teenage tipple will be)

I'd go for Noah

SaturdayRocks · 03/05/2021 08:27

As far as surname/occupation names go, it’s not a great choice. Add in Margaret, and that pretty much nails it.

Out of all the boys’ names in the world, this is top of your list? You can do better.

FourTurnings · 03/05/2021 08:27

bilbobercow 😂🤣😂

honeybee95 · 03/05/2021 08:28

We both agreed it was too out there and the connection to Margaret Thatcher is very strong, hence why we are calling him Noah.

cookiecreampie · 03/05/2021 08:29

Please don't call your child Thatcher. That's all I will say.

BrutusMcDogface · 03/05/2021 08:30

@honeybee95

We both agreed it was too out there and the connection to Margaret Thatcher is very strong, hence why we are calling him Noah.
But you still asked for opinions on thatcher though, didn’t you?
Doomsdayiscoming · 03/05/2021 08:34

Not a fan of either of them: biblical vs facist. What a choice.

Misbeehived · 03/05/2021 08:35

Noah is my favourite boys name - I’ll always pick it over anything else.

Trinacham · 03/05/2021 08:35

@BrutusMcDogface
They did say in the original post they are calling him Noah.
Not really sure what you're asking? Yes they did ask for opinions. I'm confused Confused

CrazyHorse · 03/05/2021 08:44

Jude is a lovely name.

Noah is nice, but I would struggle with Thatcher.

But then I lived through the Thatcher era.

TheMotherlode · 03/05/2021 09:06

I adore the name Noah. Really want it for DC2 but DH not keen. Definitely pick that over Thatcher. Are you a Greys Anatomy fan by any chance, think there was a Thatcher in that and that’s the only other time I’ve heard the name.

Synthesiser · 03/05/2021 09:08

Noah. Thatcher probably works in the US, but not here really

honeybee95 · 03/05/2021 09:21

Yes I want opinions, but the people saying don't call your child that, or surely there's more options...I've already said we are calling him Noah 🙄
