Which do you prefer?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ladygindiva · 02/05/2021 20:38

I like them both but I know lots of Esmes ( various spellings) so I think I prefer Savannah. Cool name.

RichPetunia · 02/05/2021 21:04

Esme.

Violetlavenders · 02/05/2021 21:16

Esmae makes the spelling very clear - Esmay!

Esmé is often mispronounced Esmee.

Outside France Esmae works better imo.

I'm not keen on Savannah.

craigsgirlfriend · 02/05/2021 21:33

Both lovely not helpful!

partyatthepalace · 02/05/2021 22:20

Esme but spelt property or it’ll be a PITA

Savannah’s a bit naff I think, though Susannah is lovely and less popular than Esme.

serin · 02/05/2021 22:21

I'm not sure how to pronounced Esme.
It it Es-mee or Es-May?

NailsNeedDoing · 02/05/2021 22:22

Savannah

therocinante · 02/05/2021 22:23

Of the two, Esme spelled properly.

miltonj · 02/05/2021 22:40

Savannah definitely

dottiedaisee · 02/05/2021 22:44

Definitely Esme ..spelt correctly and pronounced Esme not May

Edenember · 02/05/2021 23:01

Prefer Esme spelled like this. I understand the pronunciation thing though, at least your version does make that clear. Don’t like Savannah.

Saltyslug · 02/05/2021 23:20

Esme with a hyphen over the last e makes an ay sound I think ?

GreyhoundG1rl · 02/05/2021 23:31

@Saltyslug

Esme with a hyphen over the last e makes an ay sound I think ?
What sound is it without the hyphen?
TenThousandSpoons · 02/05/2021 23:34

Savannah.
Or how about Sienna?

GreyhoundG1rl · 02/05/2021 23:36

@TenThousandSpoons

Savannah. Or how about Sienna?
Much nicer. When I hear Savannah I have a mental image of a herd of giraffes. I love giraffes, but I still wouldn't.
Saltyslug · 03/05/2021 00:42

Can be pronounced eZ-me

Luzina · 03/05/2021 00:44

Esme

Savannah is ok if you’re American

Orangebug · 03/05/2021 00:46

Esme

MercyBodle · 03/05/2021 00:49

I prefer Esmae, and I don't mind this spelling at all - at least it makes the pronunciation clear!

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/05/2021 00:52

@Luzina

Esme

Savannah is ok if you’re American

Isn't a a bit of a stripper name in the States?
Tequilamakesmehappy · 03/05/2021 01:53

I like both names but I am a little biased towards Savannah Smile choosing baby names when I was pregnant I used to test them out. So one week I used a name I liked when talking to bump and the next week another, to get a feel for the name or connection...Oh and I always thought how would it sound when calling them with a raised voice from downstairs when they are in their room with headphones on/blaring music and you need to be heard in the teenage years. In the end though I had at least two/three names for each and it was not finally decided until baby was born and in my arms. It just comes to you then Grin

Anystarinthesky · 03/05/2021 02:01

Esme (with that spelling).

RosesAndHellebores · 03/05/2021 02:12

Esme
or
Susannah

Susannah is classic and pretty and much nicer than Savannah.

FraiseRoyale · 03/05/2021 02:38

Savannah is ok if you’re American
I think that's debatable. Sorry, OP, I'm not a fan of Savannah as a name, as much as I do love the city.

Violetlavenders · 03/05/2021 06:31

Definitely Esme ..spelt correctly and pronounced Esme not May

That's why the op is suggesting Esmae. She prefers it pronounced Es-may
