Ottilie vs Sophie vs Claudia for baby girl?

We’ve narrowed our names list for baby girl due at the end of the summer down to Ottilie, Sophie and Claudia. Thoughts on the three names? We already have a Hugo and an Arabella.

They are all lovely and work well with your other names.

Sorry that’s not much help 😀

Also worth noting that we have done IVF for all of our kids and have two embryos left, both of which are female, so will hopefully try for one more little girl in a year or two after this baby arrives in August! So thoughts on which two of the names above go ‘best’ with our current kiddos names would be really helpful!

Sophie is my favourite of the three.

My next choice would be Claudia because Sophie and Ottilie have too similar an ending for me. And I love Sophie, so personally that would be a definite!

mrstea301 · 02/05/2021 12:10

Claudia then Sophie! They're both pretty but Claudia is a bit more unusual!

sadpapercourtesan · 02/05/2021 12:10

Claudia works better with the two you already have.

I find Ottillie awful personally, I know it's much-loved on MN. Sophie is nice but a bit dull next to Hugo and Arabella.

Jakc · 02/05/2021 12:13

I work with newborns and get at least one Sophie/Sophia a week but never had either of the other names so I’d go with one of them

Edenember · 02/05/2021 12:17

I would’ve said Claudia as it’s my favourite of the three, but maybe Ottilie to change up the ending sounds a bit.

lanbro · 02/05/2021 12:34

Ottilie for me, Sophie is so boring and overused, Claudia does nothing for me

MadeOfStarStuff · 02/05/2021 12:43

Definitely Claudia

Sophie is nice but very popular

I really don’t like Otillie

NannyR · 02/05/2021 12:49

Sophie - lovely name, Sophia is extremely popular but I don't know of any baby/toddler Sophies.

SirSamuelVimes · 02/05/2021 13:14

Claudia, it's so elegant and beautiful.

ThatIsMyPotato · 02/05/2021 13:16

I like Sophie. Don't like Otillie.

daisypond · 02/05/2021 13:18

Claudia by far. It goes really well alongside the others. Sophie is very nice too, but is more popular. Ottilie is awful - manages to be both ugly and twee at the same time.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 02/05/2021 13:20

Sorry, but I find Ottillie awful. Claudia is the best of the lot.

Norked · 02/05/2021 13:22

Sophie is lovely ... these days I don't think it's as popular as Sophia either.

Ottilie I don't really like but it 'goes' with your DC names. Claudia is OK, not a massive fan.

Fauvist · 02/05/2021 13:24

I love Ottilie, like Claudia and find Sophie a bit dull. But none of them are awful and they all go OK with your other children's names.

Summertime21 · 02/05/2021 13:25

Claudia or Sophie, I really don't like ottilie

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/05/2021 13:40

Of the 3 names for me it's Claudia - no contest. Ottilie is very trendy and I'm not sure will stand the test of time as well as the other 2. Sophie is a lovely classic but perhaps a bit popular/dull compared to Hugo and Arabella. Claudia is underused, pretty and elegant sounding imo.

AnyaMoondial · 02/05/2021 14:30

Sophie is my favourite.

Arrierttyclock · 02/05/2021 15:26

Ottilie 💜

diddlediddle · 02/05/2021 16:05

100000x Claudia. Goes beautifully with your other children and is an underused classic. Sophie is boring and Ottilie I always find a very strange and unappealing name

DramaAlpaca · 02/05/2021 16:07

Sophie or Claudia.

Not Ottilie.

Ducksurprise · 02/05/2021 16:07

Claudia is beautiful. Lucille for the not yet conceived one

Anibas · 02/05/2021 18:39

Claudia

icecream2929 · 02/05/2021 19:32

Two other contenders are Eloise and Clara. I think we’ve officially knocked Ottilie off the list and are set on Claudia for either this baby girl or the next, so of Clara and Eloise, which ‘go’ best with Arabella, Hugo and Claudia? My ears say Clara but my eyes aren’t sure due to the repeat of the ‘C’ initial.
