I like the S version but think I may be outvoted!

ILoveShula · 27/04/2021 19:27

Elizabeth.

FrankensteinIsTheMonster · 27/04/2021 19:29

I think it looks prettier written with z… more balanced. And it's the more common spelling I think, which will make life marginally easier.

My sister is an Elisabeth. All I can say is whilst it is a beautiful version she has spent her whole life correcting people who are intent on spending her name Liz or Elizabeth. Personally I do prefer it with an S though.

TeenMinusTests · 27/04/2021 19:31

If in the UK then with a z like The Queen.
Anything else will lead to loads of people spelling it incorrectly.

Elouera · 27/04/2021 19:32

Z

Otherwise she will forever be correcting people. 'Its Elisabeth with an S.' 'Huh, with an S where?'

ZednotZee · 27/04/2021 19:32

My DM is an Elizabeth but when I named DD I chose the 's' version. I think its much prettier.

BackforGood · 27/04/2021 19:32

Elizabeth

Yika · 27/04/2021 19:33

I like it with the s. Just makes it that tiny bit different. Also more international if that’s a factor. It’s a lovely name either way.

lunar1 · 27/04/2021 19:34

Z

I have a name spelled in a less popular way, I've spend my whole life correcting it and wish my parents had spelled it properly.

Amdone123 · 27/04/2021 19:39

My favourite name. It does look very pretty with an S, but I prefer a Z.

Aliceandthemarchhare · 27/04/2021 19:41

Me too. I suppose the only problem is people would default to Z. I’ve always felt Elizabeth is a little heavy, somehow.
JoeMaplin · 27/04/2021 19:47

I prefer Elisabeth but do also really love eliza as a shortened name!

EcoCustard · 27/04/2021 19:50

Elisabeth is lovely but you spend your whole life explaining it’s with an ‘s’ not a ‘z’ in my experience.

brogo · 27/04/2021 19:53

I just had my baby girl 2 days ago and named her Elizabeth. I originally wanted Elisabeth but then I just thought she'd spend her life correcting people as the traditional spelling in the UK is with the Z .

Sarcobaleno · 27/04/2021 19:54

Elisabeth and lissy for short

BackforGood · 27/04/2021 20:06

I like it with the s. Just makes it that tiny bit different.

Which is EXACTLY why it is a real pain to have a name like that.
I have a friend who is Elisabeth. She spends her whole life correcting people who automatically assume it is Elizabeth. She would MUCH rather her parents had gone with the traditional spelling for the country she lives in.

partyatthepalace · 27/04/2021 20:28

Z if you are in the UK/English speaking world, s if the rest of Europe.

I have a friend Elisabeth. She was born in Asia and her parents thought the spelling was more international, but they came back to the Uk and now she lives in the US and I know all the correcting irritates her.

toastofthetown · 27/04/2021 20:36

Probably in a minority, but I prefer Elisabeth. I think it feel softer somehow. I appreciate that Elizabeth is the most common spelling though, which would probably be easier in the UK.
