What's your opinion?

Hubert for sure spelling-wise

Not keen on the name at all though sorry!

Marriagegoingtoimplode · 11/04/2021 20:40

Not keen on either op. Hugh is better or alternatively Rupert if it’s the sound of the name you like.

Ijustlikedthename · 11/04/2021 20:44

Hubert

GoryGilmore · 11/04/2021 20:45

I’ve only ever seen Hubert. Hugh is much nicer though.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 11/04/2021 20:45

I think the bert sound - Hubert, Robert, Albert - is quite ugly, but Hubert is the better spelling.

Orphlids · 11/04/2021 20:50

Hubert doesn’t sound like a very dynamic character, I’m afraid. The name conjures up quite a vivid image of a certain type of person, and I don’t think I’d want to be called Hubert if I were a man. I don’t imagine charisma or excitement when I hear Hubert.

Fraggle40 · 11/04/2021 20:59

Oh i quite disagree i think Hubert is an awesome name and very character building.. i imagine a very sweet little chappie

Not keen on Hughbert

Edenember · 11/04/2021 21:01

I can’t help but instantly think of Pubert from the Addams family. I don’t think many people would make this daft association though.

Violetlavenders · 11/04/2021 21:03

Hubert

annacondom · 11/04/2021 21:03

Have never heard Hughbert. Spellcheck is saying No. I like Hubert though.

ChequerBoard · 11/04/2021 21:04

Friend had a one eyed psychotic cockerel called Hubert. It suited him well...

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 11/04/2021 21:05

Please do not call your child this name. Its not character building or cute. It is just a terrible name. With all the names in the world why would you pick this one?

Mamette · 11/04/2021 21:07

I have a young relative named Hubert and he is lovely but I admit I was underwhelmed when I first heard the name. Honestly it reminds me of the word puberty.

SisterGabriel · 11/04/2021 21:07

Hubert Lane 😮

Happenchance · 11/04/2021 21:10

I'm not a fan. I prefer Herbert and Philbert.

Tal45 · 11/04/2021 21:10

I prefer either Hugh or Bert. I don't think one spelling is better than the other though.

User57392985 · 11/04/2021 21:11

OMG maybe that’s why any -Bert names make me cringe a bit.

Herbert? I like Herbert because I like Herb/Herbie but also it reminds me of sherbet.

DesperateDannyBoy · 11/04/2021 21:12

I know two (one baby). The adult is so lovely and I really like the name.

Spelling - Hubert

DramaAlpaca · 11/04/2021 21:29

It isn't spelled Hughbert, absolutely not Confused

It's Hubert, and it's horrible.

TatianaBis · 11/04/2021 21:34

No.

Hugh or Huw is fine though.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/04/2021 21:41

Hubert is the better known spelling. But I much prefer classic Hugh or Robert (or even retro Albert). Hubert has a geeky feel to me, sorry (and it reminds me of Pubert from the Addams family too) .

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 11/04/2021 21:42

bloody awful-cruel in fact

JustanotherTuesday · 11/04/2021 21:45

I'm not overly keen on it but it's better than Herbert. The only person I've heard of named that is Hubert Hurkacz, the Polish tennis player.

Tisforptarmigan · 11/04/2021 21:47

Don't do it OP. Reminds me of Pubert from the Addams family.

Giraffey1 · 11/04/2021 21:49

Hughbert? I think you may have made that up. Don’t like the correct spelling name either, it is a very old fashioned name. Huw is nicer in my book!
