Violet's sister is called...?

We've just found out we are having another girl and I am totally stumped on girls names! I was certain I was having a boy and had the name all picked out!!

Could you help me with name suggestions to go with Violet? I don't want anything old fashioned again so I would like something with more of a modern sound. A few on my list but I'm not sold on are:

Honor (husband hates this)
Amelie (a new addition- maybe too similar to Emily? I've got an Emily in the family)
Iris (not sure about another flower)
Esme (love this but I would pronounce it Ez-me and I think everyone else says Ez-may)
Winnie/Bobbie/Billie (like these but don't love the long versions of the names)

You could keep the 'colour' theme.

So, Amber, Jade, Scarlett, Coral, Sienna, etc

Elzbells · 29/03/2021 09:23

I think Florence goes beautifully with Violet but might be a bit old fashioned for you.

Also like,

Darcey
Eloise
Sophia
Isobel
Phoebe

@DOINGOURBIT I like that idea! I'm not sure I love any of those names though other than Scarlett which I think is perhaps too similar to Violet with the "t" sound at the end? My boss has an Amber so I'm not sure I could use that one as it would remind me of her I think!

Honor, Alba, Darla, I actually love indigo but it might be too purple to go with Violet 🤣

pigglepot · 29/03/2021 09:26

@Elzbells I also love Florence but she would get Flo wouldn't she which I'm not so keen on? I knew a Florence once who got Flossie but that's definitely more of a nickname.

I also love Phoebe but we have a family member Phoebe- she's not very close to us but I'm not sure if that would matter or not??

@20viona I adore Honor but my husband hates it! I once met an Honor who was so glamourous and fabulous! No idea how to get husband to love it like I do?!! Haha yes I think Indigo might be too much of a purple theme 😂

I have a Violet and if I had had another DD instead of DS, I would have called her Mabel. I know you say you don't want another old fashioned name but I think these work really well together.

I know two Florences, both of whom are only known by the full name. I think it's probably something you need to assert quite strongly if people start to shorten it.

My daughters name is the same as a distant relative. We never see them so it's never been a problem and I'm so glad we called her it as I love it!

AnyaMoondial · 29/03/2021 09:37

How about Rosa? That would keep the colour theme but isn’t quite so directly a flower.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 29/03/2021 09:40

How about:

Alice
Merryn
Florence
Pearl

LookAtWhatYouCouldHaveWon · 29/03/2021 09:41

I think Verity would go well with Violet.

Or maybe

Alana
Bridget
Bridie
Eloise
Brogan

Lemonlemon88 · 29/03/2021 09:45

Annabel?
Madeleine?
Sophia?
Cara?
Lucy?

I think Violet and Honor do sound great together though!

pigglepot · 29/03/2021 09:50

@L1saVanderpumpsRose I agree they go very well but I do think maybe it's a bit old fashioned for me.

@Elzbells oh interesting that's good to know.

You're right it doesn't really matter and I'm sure would be forgotten about very quickly!

I know twins Violet and Imogen which I always thought were lovey together.

pigglepot · 29/03/2021 09:51

@AnyaMoondial I feel like Rosa is quite stern and grown up somehow? Not as soft as Rosie (which I can't use as I have a very close family member who is Rosie)

YouDirtyBertie · 29/03/2021 09:51

I know 2 x violets and both their sisters are Pearl

Hailtomyteeth · 29/03/2021 09:56

Primrose.

Lockdownbear · 29/03/2021 10:00

Rose or Rosie is what I was thinking, but someone has suggested Primrose, which I really like and it could get shortened.

My only worry is she could get teased as Miss Prim.

Mammaaof · 29/03/2021 10:03

Was going to suggest Rosie until I saw your last post! Really like primrose nickname Primmie??!

CatRamsey · 29/03/2021 10:03

Alice is always my first thought with Violet.
