Macsen if you like Welsh names. I've even heard Max used as a shortening for Magnus (as both Magnus and Macsen are variations/come from the same etymology as Maximus/Maximilian)

I had friends who called their child Matthew Alexander Xavier - he was known as Max. Yes, I thought it was pretentious too, but obviously never said anything to them!

I have a Maximo in my class and have had a Maximilian- always called Max.

My friend is married to a Max. ( full name).

Macsen is a lovely Welsh name. Could also shorten to Mac, which I think is nicer.
