Is it due a revival? Or best be left in the past?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hayjam · 27/03/2021 16:20

God no leave it in the past.

Scarby9 · 27/03/2021 16:22

It is still a family name in the traveller community near us.

CordeliaCurtains · 27/03/2021 16:22

No.

marriednotdead · 27/03/2021 16:24

Please don't.

luciles · 27/03/2021 16:26

Don't like it tbh

Fl0w3ry · 27/03/2021 16:27

No, won't be good to revive, and your child won't thank you for it when he's a teenager!

en0la · 27/03/2021 16:27

No.

Enough4me · 27/03/2021 16:30

No, like Roger, Brian, Earnest and Deryck some names are best left!

Camandmitch · 27/03/2021 16:34

Best left in the past but I've worked with two Nigel's and they were the nicest colleagues so I have a soft spot for it.

ChristinaRussell · 27/03/2021 16:36

Farage

IllNeverLetGoJack · 27/03/2021 17:13

Oh, no, I don't think this will make a come back any time soon tbh

Tartyflette · 27/03/2021 17:15

Do you realise it's a generic name for a chap, bloke etc. Eg, I told my Nigel to sling his hook....

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/03/2021 17:25

Nigel Farage. ‘Nuff said.

ProperVexed · 27/03/2021 17:44

Monty Don's sadly departed retriever.
Great name for a dog.

NotATomato · 27/03/2021 17:53

No.

Fnib · 27/03/2021 17:55

How about Neil?

Synchrony · 27/03/2021 18:10

Unfortunately it just reminds me of Nigel Farage. How about Neville?

Geamhradh · 27/03/2021 18:12

It should never have even had a first time, let alone a revival.
I feel genuinely sorry for anyone called Nigel.
Just why?

AnaisNun · 27/03/2021 18:14

Does Nessa in Gavin and Stacey call the baby Nigel after Gavs dad?

I have a kid with an old fashioned name (popular in the 60s) and I’m not sure I’d brave Nigel tbh... sorry!

Squeejit · 27/03/2021 18:16

Niall maybe?

Squeejit · 27/03/2021 18:16

@AnaisNun it’s baby Neil isn’t it?

midsomermurderess · 27/03/2021 18:18

That's all kinds of muddled. It was Neil the baby, named after Nessa's dad and Smithy's dad.

AnaisNun · 27/03/2021 18:18

@Squeejit yes! Neil!

Neil could make a comeback I think.

EloiseTheFirst · 27/03/2021 18:35

Why would you? There's so many nicer names!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 27/03/2021 20:12

There was a Romanian character called Nigel in a film I watched recently (played by actor Mads Mikkelsen), so it's made me see the name a little differently Blush. But I still don't think I'd be brave enough to risk it currently in the UK (I think it'll take another 30/40 years to comeback here).
