Is it due a revival? Or best be left in the past?

Not keen on Nigel, but I do like Graham, Jeremy and Geoffrey which I think all have a similar vibe (and my dp vetoed for us!)

ClaraBean · 27/03/2021 20:15

Ooh and Malcolm.

WiseOwlOne · 27/03/2021 20:16

Not yet, but give it ten years

makesIlaugh · 27/03/2021 20:20

What, after Monty Don's late lamented dog?

NeedToKnow101 · 27/03/2021 20:22

@Camandmitch

Best left in the past but I've worked with two Nigel's and they were the nicest colleagues so I have a soft spot for it.

I've also worked with two lovely Nigels, and hence have a real fondness for the name.

BadMudda · 27/03/2021 20:56

Oh never

No offence but no.

Bellyups · 27/03/2021 21:12

Good grief.

Firebird83 · 27/03/2021 22:04

No. Farage.

Camandmitch · 28/03/2021 09:30

There were only 9 Nigel's born in England and Wales in 2019

WiseOwlOne · 28/03/2021 09:37

I know a nice one too, why is it so particularly maligned?

IllNeverLetGoJack · 28/03/2021 09:51

I think it suffers from the same thing that Karen now does tbh! As "he's a bit of a Nigel" has been around for ages. I know a lovely Nigel too, but I wouldn't name my son Nigel all the same.

WiseOwlOne · 28/03/2021 10:42

A nigel is perhaps perceived to not speak up enough! Not have enough backbone! A man is allowed to speak up and out.
