What does MN think?

Can't decide if baby Bruce is cute or crazy.

My immediate go to was Springsteen (cool), DH's was Batman (also cool), and then we thought of Forsythe.... 😂🙈

It’s a no from me.

A friend once went on a date with a boy who said he was called Neil. She discovered that evening that he was actually called Bruce but he found his name too embarrassing to use.

Don’t do it to your lovely baby boy.

StopGo · 22/03/2021 20:28

Bruce is a lovely name.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 22/03/2021 20:32

All I can think off is Bruce Bogtrotter.

Stuffing chocolate cake into his mouth.

While the other kids chant

‘Bruce, Bruce, Bruce’

Sorry

yellowlorry123 · 22/03/2021 20:33

No. No no no no. No

Aaaaaand no

Easterbunnygettingready · 22/03/2021 20:34

We tried to add it as a mn but apparently it isn't possible...
Love it!!

GoryGilmore · 22/03/2021 20:34

It’s awful. I may be influenced by the fact that the two Bruce’s I’ve known have been horrible though.

Piggyhoolier · 22/03/2021 20:34

Erm... it sits with Keith, Nigel and Gary for me. Nothing really wrong with any of them but they just seem super unpopular for babies these days. I would probably think a baby Bruce was quite sweet in a so-unfashionable-it’s-gone-full-circle-and-is-actually-a-bit-cool type way

Teenagerwillbethedeathofme · 22/03/2021 20:34

Makes me think of the Aussie shark on Nemo

Teenagerwillbethedeathofme · 22/03/2021 20:36

"Fish are friends, not food"..

bamboozer · 22/03/2021 20:36

Literally can only think of Bruce Bogtrotter when i hear that name. Awful name imo!

Merename · 22/03/2021 20:37

Yes I can only hear it in an Australian accent!!

Merename · 22/03/2021 20:37

But I did know a lovely Bruce years ago and remember him fondly...

Commonwasher · 22/03/2021 20:38

I like it.

One of the few names it’s almost impossible to shorten or abbreviate. We’d have had it if our second had been a boy.

DinosaurDiana · 22/03/2021 20:40

It sounds like an Australian man swigging a can of XXXX.

Overdueanamechange · 22/03/2021 20:40

Only if you call his sister Sheila ;-)

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/03/2021 20:44

I can only hear it in Aussie accent too! Even more so than Sheila... I don't know why because I do think of Bruce Willis, Springsteen and Wayne too -but the Aussie comedy stereotype is strong, so it's a no from me, sorry.

WildCherryBlossom · 22/03/2021 20:47

I prefer Bruno

TheGriffle · 22/03/2021 20:49

Another one who can only hear it in an Australian accent!

Was their a Bruce in kath and kim?

BertieBotts · 22/03/2021 20:56

I don't like it. It's too close to "brute" so it sounds like a violent thug to me. Also I associate it with men of a certain age. It's not quite got to "cute grandpa" stage of reusability like Albert or Arthur. It just sounds, yes, as someone else said like Keith or Nigel.

user1495884673 · 22/03/2021 21:04

Also hear it in an Australian accent. Bruce, Bruce, Bruce and Bruce of the University of Wallamalloo. I actually think it's quite a nice sounding name but it does have a lot of baggage.

user1495884673 · 22/03/2021 21:07

The thing with not quite "cute grandpa" yet names is that they will be back in 20 years by which time anyone named now will be a 20 year old with a cool name, ahead of the curve.

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2021 21:07

I quite like it!

I know a Bruce in his 30s

inmyslippers · 22/03/2021 21:19

I like it
