Oliver or Toby?

Which do you prefer?

I know Oliver is popular but I don’t mind that.
Toby would be Tobias on the BC and Toby day-to-day.

Thanks Smile

Oliver for me.

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 20/03/2021 21:02

Both.

DiabeticFirstBaby · 20/03/2021 21:13

My fav boys name would have been Toby not Tobias but just Toby.

tobee · 20/03/2021 21:15

Obviously Toby!

Toby

Both! I've 2 boys called Oliver & Toby 🙂

capercaillie · 20/03/2021 21:30

These were our top names for boy. Went with Oliver - no regrets. Yes popular but actually other more popular names in his year group. Toby is also very lovely though.

resm · 20/03/2021 21:30

Oliver.

Spied · 20/03/2021 21:31

Oliver is lovely.
Toby is an annoying name imo.

Katjolo · 20/03/2021 21:34

Tobias

Saltyslug · 20/03/2021 21:37

Tobias is great. Toby less so. Rory is nicer

Saltyslug · 20/03/2021 21:37

Oscar

Doublechins · 20/03/2021 21:38

Oliver. I have an Oliver and don't know any others despite it being popular.

My sister has a dog called Toby so I now see it as a dog name.

FASDE1517 · 20/03/2021 21:45

Toby, definitely. I've been teaching 16 years and I have never taught a class without at least one Oliver. I know you don't mind popularity but it has really put me off the name- Toby is lovely though.

NigellaSeed · 20/03/2021 21:46

They are both lovely names. Oliver is probably a bit more baby - to old man, and Toby is maybe more kiddie. If that makes sense.

1starwars2 · 20/03/2021 22:18

@purplemarshmellows me too. They are both great names.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/03/2021 22:19

Toby would be my choice (as long as lovely Tobias is on the BC, as Toby can sound a bit cutesy on some adults). Oliver is nice enough, just overused (and I'm less keen on nn Olly).

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 20/03/2021 22:22

Tobias. I know you don’t mind popularity but Oliver is next-level popular.

NatU123 · 20/03/2021 22:23

@Saltyslug Rory is my brother and Oscar is my DS1 Wink

I love both of these names but slightly leaning more towards Toby/Tobias although worried about how it will sound with our surname. Thanks for all your opinions Smile
