Can you please share with me some absolutely regular and normal names that are absolutely underused?

My picks are Miranda, Helen, Clive and Mitchell. What are yours?

I also love Helen along with Susannah and John.

You never see Gary anymore.
My first boyfriend was a Gary.

I knew a Trudie a while back and I think that's due a comeback. Short for Gertrude

Astraturf · 19/03/2021 16:52

Also I think James and Jessica are perfectly lovely names but you don't see babies called them

That's so funny, I just commented Giovanni on another thread. Would have loved it for DS but a friend got there first 😑

SixDegrees · 19/03/2021 17:01

James and Jessica may have been declining in popularity, but they are both still in the top 50 in England and Wales.

There are thousands of babies out there called James and Jessica.

EchidnaKidney · 19/03/2021 17:04

Ooh I do love Gary as well! Used to be common but you wouldn't meet a baby Gary these days.
And Clive is definitely due a peak in popularity.

abstractzebra · 19/03/2021 17:08

I don't think there are as many Adams as there should be, given the origin of the name!
At one point, it was THE name as no one else existed (obviously if you believe in what the bible says!)

EssentialHummus · 19/03/2021 17:17

Adam, Michael, Peter, Helen

I definitely think that Clive is overdue for a revival. If I'd had boy/girl twins, they'd have been James and Jessie - great combination!

Names which I like and I think are underused:

Sabrina
May
Frida
Roma
Celeste
Petra
Dora
Viola
Coral
Katrina
Lucille

Really like Myra too, but think it'll be a while before that name is back in fashion...

MirandaMarple · 19/03/2021 17:45

I love Miranda.

Jennifer.

CoconutFatFeast · 19/03/2021 17:59

I’ve always liked Amanda.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/03/2021 19:42

Claudia, Antonia, Diana, Serena etc - well known Roman names for girls that are still not used very often.

For boys, a lot of the classic "English" names don't seem to be used much for babies anymore - Phillip, Hugh, Richard, Stephen etc
