Husband and I disagreeing on which is best.
Have name changed to actually include our last name.
Edmund Wilfred Lyons
Edgar Wilfred Lyons
Edwin Wilfred Lyons

During discussion con of Edmund possibly not as snappy to shout across a playground, con of Edgar (which is a pro to the other parent) is association with the horror writer, con of Edwin is possibly being called Edwina teasingly.

Not sure whether to abandon the Eds totally given we can’t decide 😫

How about Edward?

I don’t think he will thank you for naming him something like Edgar.

Opticabbage · 27/02/2021 19:51

Blood brothers!

Deadringer · 27/02/2021 19:53

I dislike them all equally, sorry.

ParisJeTAime · 27/02/2021 19:55

Edmund!

I love it! Really wanted it for DS, but DH wasn't keen. I think it's a lovely sound.

Inaquandry19 · 27/02/2021 19:56

Edgar is my favourite of the three.

Gigihi20 · 27/02/2021 20:04

I find that a bit odd as I knew an Edgar in university and have worked with an Edmund and no one remotely thought they were anything but perfectly normal (although admittedly uncommon) names.

How about Elwin?

ParisJeTAime · 27/02/2021 20:06

I did work with an Edwin. He was such a twat. So, you can't use that one obviously Wink.

Bear in mind btw, that it's Saturday night op and you do get some more opinionated voices on here of a Saturday evening, I've noticed.

kokosm · 27/02/2021 20:06

Edmund

beela · 27/02/2021 20:12

Edmund. Lovely name.

Not Edwin with Wilfred. Too many 'w' s.

CorvusPurpureus · 27/02/2021 20:31

I've got an Edmund nn Ned.

I love the name, although he's taken some flak in Eng Lit this year as they're reading Lear...Grin

GU24Mum · 27/02/2021 20:35

Edward is my favourite.....

but from your list I'd go for Edmund. Don't like Edwin and Edgar reminds me of the slightly scary version of 101 Dalmatians I had as a child!

partyatthepalace · 27/02/2021 20:37

Edmund
Edwin
Edgar

But they are all fine. I don't think 7 year olds will be reading Edgar A Poe or know many Edwinas so you're alright there. Edmund is perfectly shoutable. It will get shortened tho, so decide now if you want Ed/Ned/Ted

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 27/02/2021 21:45

Edgar Allan Poe as a namesake would be a cool pro for me, rather than a neg! Also Edgar is the good son in King Lear and Edmund the "bad" one. Having said that I do really like the name Edmund, maybe because it's closer to classic Edward... sorry that's no help!

Not particularly fond of Edwin, but I really like Wilfred btw.

PraiseBee · 27/02/2021 22:29

Edmund

Ellmau · 27/02/2021 22:43

They're all nice. I wouldn't think of Poe, in fact until someone else named him I was struggling to think which writer you meant.

MuddleMoo · 27/02/2021 22:50

Elwin is nice
Or Edward?

Edmund reminds me of a children's book character
I like Edwin

Firebird83 · 27/02/2021 23:02

Edmund is great. DS goes to nursery with an Edmund.

OppsUpsSide · 27/02/2021 23:05

I love Edwin

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 27/02/2021 23:10

Edgar

marly11 · 27/02/2021 23:14

Maybe just Ed and then that ends the problem Wink

luckynumber · 27/02/2021 23:15

Edgar is my favourite and reminds me of Edgar Wright the director and Edgar Allan Poe, so is obvs a very cool name.

jemillyp · 27/02/2021 23:16

Love Edgar ❤️
Hate the others (especially Edward as has been suggested - avoid!)

Coffeeandaride · 28/02/2021 00:02

Edwin

Mavedrai · 28/02/2021 00:17

I love Edmund. One of my favourite names. I always associate it with Blackadder but that's a good thing! Haha

Edgar is also good. Edwin sounds a bit wet to me. Not sure why when I like the other two so much.
