My DH really likes the name Hailey Elizabeth. I’m warming to it, what are your thoughts on Hailey? Is the name about these days? Pretty name? Thanks!

I like it

I haven’t heard of any little ones with that name in schools.

FelicityPike · 17/02/2021 08:16

Absolutely nothing wrong with it!

AdriannaP · 17/02/2021 08:18

I know one Hayley (in her 20ies) - it’s one of those names that can be spelled 4 different ways and she will forever have to spell her name. It’s a nice name though.

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/02/2021 08:18

Hayley is my preferred spelling but it's a lovely name.

Bluesername · 17/02/2021 08:19

I like it with the spelling Hayley.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 17/02/2021 08:20

I really like it. I only know one, also spelled Hayley.

FelicityPike · 17/02/2021 08:25

I knew in my sleep befuddled brain that was spelled differently. I much prefer Hayley (the “proper” way....sorry)

Gentlerose30 · 17/02/2021 08:27

I read that Hayley was the least common way to spell it!? Maybe that’s just in America!

Tbf most names can be spelt a different way, even traditional ones.

I like it but I would give her a more traditional spelling so she doesn’t have to spend her life saying “yes like the weather” so Hayley

Gentlerose30 · 17/02/2021 08:44

Thanks does it flow nicely with siblings Sophie and Lucy?

I really like the name Hayley (I prefer this spelling too). I do think it’s slightly dated, but I find it so pretty, it wouldn’t stop me using it. It's such a cheerful sounding name, and conjures up the image of afternoon sunlight in a countryside scene. It’d be nice to hear of a little baby Hayley. Unusual these days. And it sounds very nice with Elizabeth.

partyatthepalace · 17/02/2021 09:25

I think it’s Ok, but it doesn’t really have the history and depth of Sophie and Lucy, so I think it’s a pity on that front.

Do you want another one ending with a y sound? Zoe, Chloe, Phoebe, Emily, Cicely...

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/02/2021 11:32

I would use the Hayley spelling - there's been a few celebs with the name so it will be the spelling most familiar to people (I also think it looks prettier too!)

Hayley is slightly 80's feeling but it's a nice enough name and Hayley Elizabeth sounds good. The only thing I would say is that Sophie and Lucy feel more classic to me - similar names imo would be Amy, Emily, Emma, Charlotte, Alice etc

Nell96 · 17/02/2021 12:02

I'm not keen - agree that it feels a bit 80s, along the same lines as Gemma, Louise, Stephanie etc. How about Hazel? Beautiful name with a similar sound.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/02/2021 12:18

Or how about Natalie? I'm trying to think of popular "y/ie" names we had at School - there were Sophie's, Lucy's, Amy's, Emily's, Natalie's but only one Hayley.

ShowOfHands · 17/02/2021 12:20

It's very 80s and has an entirely different feel to your other names which are far more classic and not dated.

It's a pretty name though. I think Hayley is by far the most commonly recognised spelling in England.

LizzieMacQueen · 17/02/2021 12:25

Her nickname may be 'hales' so something to consider.

What nicknames do you use for Sophie and Lucy?

AlwaysLatte · 17/02/2021 12:25

It's ok, but there will be a lifetime of corrected spellings. A bit tough if you're at the end of that.

BallsToYouSue · 17/02/2021 12:31

I like Hayley a lot!

So much nicer than Hallie which you hear more these days. It reminds me of halitosis tbh.

I prefer the Hayley spelling but Hailey is also fine. Don't feel strongly about it.

Go for it! Hailey / Hayley Elizabeth. Really nice.

Skyla2005 · 17/02/2021 12:35

My best friend is called Hayley it's a lovely name and not overused either it's quite unusual I think

Skyla2005 · 17/02/2021 12:36

Just seen your other girls names. Yes it goes perfect !

ThatWasWeird · 17/02/2021 12:43

I do like the name but prefer the spelling 'Hayley'. I also think Hayley with a Y, goes better with Lucy and Sophie. I'm not sure why, it's more traditional maybe (in the UK at least).

Gentlerose30 · 17/02/2021 13:16

Thanks for your comments lots to think about! Another option I’m liking is Katie Amelia feel like that goes nicely with Sophie and Lucy? Might be more inkeeping I like the pretty but traditional names!

Kanaloa · 17/02/2021 14:06

I like it, it’s pretty. I think I prefer Hailey Elizabeth to Katie Amelia. Hailey Elizabeth just feels like it has a bit more to it somehow. Sophie, Lucy and Hailey sound nice together.

Redridinghood88 · 17/02/2021 18:31

My name is Hayley and iv always loved my name.
