Our twin girl is called Jessica. We are struggling with our twin boys name. Jude or Nate were our top two. Which sounds best please? Or should I swap to James?
The twins have an older brother called Benjamin. So Benjamin, Jessica and...

I don't like Jude at all and am not keen on Nate. I love James but Jessica and James are a slightly twee together. I like Jessica.

It seems you like 3 syllable names, so I'd go for another 3 syllable boy's name. Jonathan or Nicholas or Nathaniel nn Nate.

ValpolicellaPrimitivo · 14/02/2021 17:55

I prefer James to Jude or Nate.

But out of Jude or Nate I'd pick Nate, perhaps short for Nathaniel.

James - underused these days and a great name.

The other two are nice too.

MerryChristmasToYou · 14/02/2021 18:02

Just go with James. It's such a nice name.

partyatthepalace · 14/02/2021 18:03

... if you do use Nate do put Nathan or Nathaniel on the birth cert ...

user1493494961 · 14/02/2021 18:04

I love Nate, short for Nathaniel. You may not want to shorten the names but I expect eventually they will be Ben, Jess and Nate, lovely.

Kate5789 · 14/02/2021 18:06

Does Jessie and James sound wrong together?

Reallyhadenough · 14/02/2021 18:07

With my last I picked Jessica for a girl and James for a boy!!

helpmum2003 · 14/02/2021 18:08

I would go for James, Nathaniel or Nathan nn Nate and Jude in that order.

I think James goes best with Jessica and Benjamin, all lovely names.

Kate5789 · 14/02/2021 18:08

Thanks that’s where we’d got to in terms of favourites. But we’re not keen on Nathan or Nathanial so wondered about just Nate. The majority view so far is to have the full version?

AlwaysLatte · 14/02/2021 18:09

I think I'd go with James, and there are various shortened versions too that work well. Nate is lovely except invariably people drop the 't' and it sounds horrible. Nat is nice but I'd veto that too for the same reason. Jude always reminds me of Judas which is a shame as in itself it's a nice name!

Kate5789 · 14/02/2021 18:09

Ah great minds!

I don't normally like twin names with the same initial, but I love Jessica and James is beautiful.
Jessica and James is lovely. I think Joseph goes, too.

AlwaysLatte · 14/02/2021 18:10

Although a friend has a Nathaniel and he's known as Natty.

TheVanguardSix · 14/02/2021 18:12

Jethro is my suggestion.

I love Jesse James. Jesse itself is a strong, biblical name- one that I love.

OneStepOneStumble · 14/02/2021 18:12

Just to make you aware - Jessie and James were team rocket in pokemon which for a 90s child is the first association i would make!

Palavah · 14/02/2021 18:13

Jesse James was a famous outlaw.

I'm not a fan of alliterative names so of your options I'd choose Nate.

TheVanguardSix · 14/02/2021 18:16

Oh I am sorry. Jesse being Jessica. Sorry. I was thinking of the male name Jesse. Scratch that. Start again.

Jesse (as in Jessica) and James DOES unfortunately sound a little silly.

Jessica and Joseph?

Jesse and Joe sound nice together.

Itsokthanks · 14/02/2021 18:18

I love James and Jude but if you've decided on Jessica the two J names might sound a bit much and there's potential for confusion with school correspondence etc.

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2021 18:21

Same here. I'm not a nineties child, but my children are Grin

Thanks everyone. Some useful food for thought!

My boy is the eldest so maybe James and Jessie (Jessica) doesn’t sound like an outlaw or a Pokemon team? I didn’t know about the Pokemon team...I guess the children won’t either?

Passiveobserver · 14/02/2021 19:36

I would definitely go for names with different initials, mostly to eliminate correspondence confusion as a previous poster already said.
I think Nate is a really cool name, I’d personally go for that Smile

Reallyhadenough · 14/02/2021 19:56

Another thought (I personally hate it) is shortern/nick names! I named my 4 children so hate others changing their names!!

OhTheTastyNuts · 14/02/2021 19:57

My first thought was Pokemon too, with Jessie and James. It's been popular for years and likely to stay that way...

Alexander works well with Benjamin and Jessica?
