What do you think of Audrey? The more I think about it the more I like it but think it's pretty marmite for a lot of people?

Aubrey not Audrey for me

Paperyfish · 13/02/2021 19:44

Love it! Husband said no when we had a girl. Then yes when we had a boy. Don’t like it for a boy so much.

renovationfatigue · 13/02/2021 19:44

Our lovely neighbours' daughter is called this. Love it

danascully96 · 13/02/2021 19:46

See, Audrey not Aubrey for me. Aubrey always sounds hoarse to me.

As for Audrey, it’s a glamorous yet cozy name. Since I’m a wee bit... anal, I’m a bit put off by the “odd” in Audrey, but I do find it a lovely name and the people who wear it always seem to be attractive too. It’s lovable and familiar!

WonkyCactus · 13/02/2021 19:46

I love it!

FlaminYawn · 13/02/2021 19:46

RubyandPearl · 13/02/2021 19:47

I LOVE Audrey its beautiful

wingingitalltheway · 13/02/2021 19:49

I love this name. It was my grandma’s name and is my DD’s middle name. It’s a great choice!

The “odd”? What do you mean? Do you pronounce it ‘Oddrey’? 🤨

Audrey is a lovely name.

33goingon64 · 13/02/2021 19:54

I had a French flatmate named Audrey and I know a very cool 10 year old Audrey.

strawberriesunited · 13/02/2021 19:54

Love!

danascully96 · 13/02/2021 19:55

Must be an accent discrepancy. “Ah-dree” is how I pronounce it, but “Ahd” and “Odd” are similar sounds. I’ll admit I’m a minority in making that connection and still find it gorgeous! Smile

Yep but definitely becoming more used by females, though maybe in the US; like Sasha
Retrogal · 13/02/2021 20:01

Love it!

SoCrimeaRiver · 13/02/2021 20:11

I love it; it's a family name for me so I'm biased but it also reminds me of the character in Twin Peaks, and I thought she was stunning when I was a teenager.

theworks · 13/02/2021 20:15

Thanks all that was helpful ☺️ think it's my no 1 on my shortlist now!

I know two baby audreys born in the last six months - it definitely becoming popular!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/02/2021 20:17

Very marmite. But despite generally not liking "retro" names, I really like Audrey. It has a glam, stylish image to me because I think of Hepburn and the cult character Audrey Horne in Twin Peaks - it's just unfortunate some other people will think "old woman" instead.

FunnyInjury · 13/02/2021 20:36

Love Audrey, I think Aubrey is too try-hard (for no rational reason!)

FlaminYawn · 13/02/2021 20:36

@OnlyFoolsnMothers apologies-I've only heard it as a boys name

Lalliella · 13/02/2021 23:43

Audrey Roberts!

DramaAlpaca · 13/02/2021 23:49

I really love Audrey.

Firebird83 · 14/02/2021 00:08

Lovely

Kanaloa · 14/02/2021 00:11

I think it’s a lovely name. In my accent it is pronounced so the beginning sounds a bit like odd but I don’t think it would be too big a problem.
