Lily and Tulip as sibilings??

We already have a daughter, Lily and we are expecting another baby girl! we love floral names and have been thinking of Tulip, but we aren't sure if it's too weird since not many kids are named Tulip (we are also afraid she'll get picked on). What do you think? We were also thinking of names like Lavender, Hazel, Holly and Daisy.

Tulip

Alfxn · 08/02/2021 18:34

Tulip is also an insult where I'm from, OP. Hazel is nice though and goes well with Lily.

TinyCake · 08/02/2021 18:37

Marigold
Primrose

TinyCake · 08/02/2021 18:38

Tulip works the more I say it

Emelene · 08/02/2021 18:39

I know sisters called Lily and Rosie. Smile

EternalOptimist7 · 08/02/2021 18:40

Definitely not Tulip!

Libraryghost · 08/02/2021 18:42

Violet is a lovely name. What is prettier than a little violet flower?

OppsUpsSide · 08/02/2021 18:43

I know sisters called Lily and Rosie too.

How about Zinnia?

AdelaideK · 08/02/2021 18:44

Tulip is better than Lavender which is dreadful.

All your other names are nice.

Sportsnight · 08/02/2021 18:44

There’s an MP called Tulip Siddiq. It’s alright, but I think paired with Lily sounds a bit much.

Santaiscovidfree · 08/02/2021 18:44

2 lips wouldn't be a nice nn.
How about Poppy?
I know a Lily with Ivy and Holly dsis's

SorrelForbes · 08/02/2021 18:47

My great aunts were called Lily and Violet. Lovely names.

HenriettaHeffalump · 08/02/2021 18:48

I think Tulip is adorable for a little girl, but not sure I like it for a teenager or adult.

It is way more out there than Lily, so if you do go for it, be prepared for "why did I have to get such a weird name" comments! Hopefully not, but I remember my siblings who had unusual names being like this. My parents thought they had chosen an unusual one for me too, but when they returned to the UK (I was born abroad), they found my name was mega popular! So it was really ordinary when I was at school, whereas siblings had quite unusual/identifying names, which they didn't like.

Agreed hat tulip is used as an insult to say someone is a bit stupid.

I suspect this is a joke

PinkSkyBlue · 08/02/2021 18:50

Tallulah?

JustAPassingFashion · 08/02/2021 18:56

Tulip is a female character in the TV show, preacher.
I'd never thought about it, just accepted her name. I quite like it!!

Lamentations · 08/02/2021 19:00

I think you need to bear in mind that this baby DD will become a woman who will be forever saddled with Tulip as she tries to be taken seriously in work/life. Cute and Ditsy names are shit on adults.

BakewellGin1 · 08/02/2021 19:04

Hazel
Fern
Daisy
Violet
Rose

DragonPoop · 08/02/2021 19:05

Not a fan of tulip but I like Tula or Dahlia, although personally I think two sisters both with obvious flower names can be a bit twee.

stickygotstuck · 08/02/2021 19:22

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

Yes, that's her! Here's a gold Star for you Smile

OP, I have read all PPs and none of them make a convincing argument against it. Can't see why some flowers are OK while others are left out, not fair Grin.

It sounds good and it's a beautiful flower. I'd go ahead in your shoes.

Moominmama5 · 08/02/2021 19:27

Holly or Hazel would work the best I think. Tulip wouldn’t be my choice.

shinynewapple2021 · 08/02/2021 19:27

Generally I quite like flower names and don't see anything wrong with Tulip. I don't really like the two flower names together as siblings though .

Earlybirdcatches · 08/02/2021 19:31

I really like Tulip.

Not keen on Holly and Daisy with Lily though.

custardbear · 08/02/2021 19:35

In all honesty I think she'd get teased at sxhool no end
Plus you'd get some pronouncing it
Too-lip
And others
Tew- lip

marypoppinsreturns · 08/02/2021 19:43

I think Iris is pretty. I don't Tulip, and I generally love floral names.
