Hi MNers!

It’s the final countdown for our little girl due in a few weeks and we hesitate between Lucy and Esme!

Which one do you prefer and which one feels the most popular/common to you?

They’re close in the rankings of 2020 most popular names and I would like to pick the less common if possible, so keen to have the opinion of other mums :)

Full name would be:
Esme Lucy Ross
Or
Lucy Esme Ross

Esme is probably more common now but it is so so much nicer than Lucy!

I would probably pick Lucy.

Have you looked up the stats for your region? That can make a big difference.

@galaxy9 it is gorgeous isn’t it? I’ve loved it since I’ve read 9 Stories by Salinger which is still my favourite book. I wonder if people will think that we’re Twilight fans now if we choose it?

I much prefer Lucy not that there's anything wrong with Esme just not my taste

@BungleandGeorge agreed struggling a bit for the middle name. I had Elizabeth as well as a middle.

Esme had a moment a while back, so I think it will date badly. Lucy is fairly classic and could be a child or woman of pretty much any age. Esme I would either guess a child or an elderly woman and rarely on anyone in between!

Lucy Elizabeth is good. Lucy is slightly difficult to say in combination with many names!

I think Lucy Esme sounds better than Esme Lucy but Lucy Elizabeth sounds even better because having both names end with a vowel sound makes it sound a bit singsongy imo.

Much prefer Esme. It's so beautiful and such a lovely sound. There are so many Lucy's in their 30's etc and I just find it boring in comparison.
I don't hear many Esme's or Lucy's around to be honest.
