We are due a baby girl and have always loved the name Ruby, it has sentimental family connections...but coupled with our surname I'm just not sure. Her name would be Ruby Hart does she sound like a burlesque performer? Nothing wrong with that profession, but not sure I want it connected to a baby and would she be taken seriously as an adult?

What do you think?

While Ruby isn't my favourite name (few of the 'old lady' names are), I don't think that Ruby Hart sounds rather fabulous!

Go for it.

LadyCatStark · 10/02/2021 16:49

It is a bit of a stripper name yet... I do really do like it. It has a nice ring to it.

  • I do think

I love it (obviously!) C Mycock is hilarious!!!

Ruby is a lovely name. Ruby Hart definitely has fictional character / stage name vibes - not surprising at all to read there’s a Marvel character with the name. But I don’t think it’s at all negative. As long as you’re happy to have a name which is bit bolder than average I say go for it.

Chickenwing · 10/02/2021 17:05

Love it. She sounds like a powerful businesswoman.

Wanderlust20 · 10/02/2021 21:21

I think it's a FABULOUS name! People have stage names for a reason, because their own names are boring. It's such a memorable name!

Wanderlust20 · 10/02/2021 21:22

And definitely not a stripper name!!

micc · 10/02/2021 22:13

I think it sounds great imo
Sounds like she should be famous!

@LokiGunn Ruby Hart sounds lovely and very memorable.

I might even suggest having Ruby as a middle name and opting for a longer and slightly traditional name as a first name to give more options in the future:
Anastasia
Annabelle
Amelia

Catherine
Charlotte
Elizabeth
Euphemia
Genevieve
Guinevere
Ophelia
Rosalind

Sylvia
Victoria
Vivienne
