We are expecting a baby boy and plan on naming him Leroy or Roy. Wondering which appeals more to the mamas out there or what vibe you get from each. Thank you for your help, mamas!

I like Leroy because it’s Gibbs name from NCIS. Roy reminds me of the guy from coronation street.

Firebird83 · 24/01/2021 22:37

I prefer Roy out of the two.

cachedelete · 24/01/2021 22:46

Out of those two, Roy 100%.

percheron67 · 24/01/2021 22:48

Roy is the better of the two - that, however, is not saying much! Leroy is so American.

Tambourina · 24/01/2021 22:48

Roy every time.

NiceGerbil · 24/01/2021 22:50

Leroy reminds me of the 80s and I like it! From fame 😀

Don't like Roy at all.

Mischance · 24/01/2021 22:51

Not Leroy - it is grim.

StanfordPines · 24/01/2021 22:53

I agree that Leroy is a very 80s name. Roy is also old fashioned but more timeless, like Luke or Mark. More out of fashion now but never completely.

bucketofcoffee · 24/01/2021 22:58

Friend's DS is Royston nn Roy

Blondiney · 24/01/2021 23:01

Leroy from Fame. Roy Cropper from Corrie.

saffire · 24/01/2021 23:04

Leroy is the name of the first boy I kissed. He is known as Lee now as he hates Leroy and doesn't want to be called Roy.

TwilledSilesia · 24/01/2021 23:05

@Blondiney

Leroy from Fame. Roy Cropper from Corrie.
Yes! Grin
Grapesoda7 · 24/01/2021 23:07

I like Leeroy

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 24/01/2021 23:09

Is the baby going to come out as a 72 year old man, who is married to a woman called Janet, enjoys golf and gardening, and suffers from irritable bowel, much to Janet's exasperation?

If not, then it's a no to Roy.

Hawkins001 · 24/01/2021 23:12

Gibbs every time, Leroy,

TeddyBeans · 24/01/2021 23:18

Leroy is the name I've given to every super fat pigeon I've ever seen. It has my vote!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/01/2021 23:27

Oh dear, I'm really struggling to pick either - they both sound extremely dated to me. I don't suppose you like the similar Ray? - that has a kind of retro/vintage cool (like musician Ray Charles).

mintich · 24/01/2021 23:28

Roy

Leroyforthewin · 24/01/2021 23:29

I've name changed for this because it's outing.
I LOVE the name Leroy! I absolutely adore it, however my husband hates it and wouldn't even have it as a middle name for any of our four. He wouldn't even let us name a pet fish Leroy.
You simply have to use it!

AnnaSW1 · 24/01/2021 23:29

I really couldn't choose between them because I Really dislike them both.

Haha, very good Grin

It's a no to both from me.

Ray is OK though, as someone just suggested.

My Nan wanted to call my Dad Leroy in the 50's. My Grandad put his foot down and said no. So they compromised and called him Roy. I would go for Roy if you want to be more unusual as I know several Leroy's (and they were born in the 80's and very early 90's).

MercyBodle · 25/01/2021 06:14

Though not keen on either Roy is better.

Porridgeoat · 25/01/2021 06:16
