Sister for Juno

We're really struggling to find a name for second daughter, firstborn is called Juno Carolina (after the US state).

Options we're currently considering are:

Teddy (as in Theodora but we'd call her just Teddy)
Iona (my fav but too Scottish for DH)
Marlowe (DH fav, I really like it but it might be just too out there for me)
Scarlett
Madeleine (but don't want her to be Maddie/Mads)

Any other suggestions?

Juno is lovely. Madeleine is similarly gorgeous, but I think you would likely get Mads/Maddie unless you called her Lainey from day 1.

Your other choices aren't to my taste, sorry (although the lovely Thea/Theia rather than Theodora would work very well with Juno - as both Juno and Theia were classical Goddesses).

Other ideas - Iris, Maia, Freya, Gaia, Thalia, Isolde, Sybil, Freda, Selene, Mara, Cressida, Flora, Hera, Artemis, Diana, Clio, Beatrix, Athena, Cora, Lara.

And I'd be tempted to use Georgia as the middle name to match her sister (or if braver possibly Virginia, Indiana, Louisiana, Dakota or Montana).

Marlo spelled this way

NotCornflakes · 24/01/2021 20:32

Clementine. Juno and Clem / Clemmie are really cute together.

OhCaptain · 24/01/2021 20:32

Marlo/Marlow is lovely!

Marnie?

I like Teddy, too.

Something like Saffron (Saffy?)

Cleverpolly3 · 24/01/2021 20:39

I’m not sure any of the names you’ve listed work with Juno

How about
Zoe
Dahlia
Remy
Nina
Lydia
Francesca
Anais

Also like Dakota

Also: Zeta

DotDotDotDotDot · 24/01/2021 20:53

Ines, Zoe, Iris, Violet, Ariadne, Hera, Skye?

DotDotDotDotDot · 24/01/2021 20:55

Maybe not Hera actually, just remembered the meaning is the same/similar as Juno.

daisypond · 24/01/2021 21:11

I’m not sure those names go. Marlowe isn’t very nice at all. Theodora is good, but I don’t like Teddy. Scarlett is OK but a very different style. Madeleine is very different too.

Xenia
Irene
Penelope

stickygotstuck · 24/01/2021 21:13

Iona

OhCaptain · 24/01/2021 21:21

Xenia

These are horrible!
ParisJeTAime · 24/01/2021 21:23

I'd go with Teddy! It's lovely.

Iona is nice too.

Madeleine, Scarlett and Marlowe..meh. Bit blah tbh. I know they aren't super common names, but I don't think they match Juno in terms of interest.

Suggestions:

Luna
Winter
Mabel
Maple
Penelope
Thea
Willa
Verity
Nancy
Nell

daisypond · 24/01/2021 21:24

@OhCaptain
I’m not too keen on them either, though I like Xenia, but I’m trying to come up with ones that might fit with the OP’s ideas of nice.

SandysMam · 24/01/2021 21:25

I said it on another thread but my favourite girls name at the moment is Artemis!

sadpapercourtesan · 24/01/2021 21:27

@SandysMam Artemis is awesome. Could have Artie or Missy as little girl nicknames too Grin

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 24/01/2021 21:27

Anya? Cleo?

ParisJeTAime · 24/01/2021 21:30

I have seen Artemis and Athena mentioned a lot lately. Wonder if they are going to become quote trendy soon!

My first though is always Artemis from Always Sunny and the 90s poster shop, Athena!

Omg definitely not Hera - that's the Greek counterpart to the Roman Juno

ParisJeTAime · 24/01/2021 21:50

Oh God if we are going to get into the myths, that's another thing about Athena. Her birth story and illustrations give me the boak...but, I might be weird.

MercyBodle · 25/01/2021 01:37

From your list I would choose Teddy/Theodora, Iona or Scarlett.
I would avoid 2 'o' ending names, so not Marlowe, and Madeleine, though nice enough, seems a bit ordinary next to the more interesting Juno.

Cecily
Tessa
Ingrid
Ivy
Imogen
Violet
Pandora
Florence
Flora
Bridget
Cosima
Tamsin
Beatrix

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/01/2021 01:49

Iona is nice and fits well with Juno. Similar to June in both dad sound and vibe but by no means too similar that you couldn't you use them as A sibset.
It's strange that you say Teddie because before I opened your thread in was going to suggest Thea.
I don't like Scarlett but I'm liking it with Juno.
If you don't like Maddie or Mads don't use Madeleine.
I like Marlowe but I wouldn't put it with Juno.

Other suggestions
Juno and
Elsa
Maud
Iris
Erin
Ada
Celia
Orla
Cora
Gwen
Zara
